Good Book
Dick Francis is/was a pretty good author, but I've noticed in the last few novels that he simply did/does not tie up the storyline at the end. It just kind of ends leaving a lot to the reader's imagination. I would rather he added a chapter and tied everything up. Still a good book, though.

Typiclal Francis thriller
Known for his horses based thrillers, this book is a typical one.Gets the readers the pleasure he looks for. Easy to read, light and suitable ar a "flight companion". Not going to much into the protagonists character as it is common today.

Awesome writing!
I have now read almost every book written by Dick Francis. My greatest woe is that there will be no new books by this clever author, as he is deceased. I have enjoyed every book, though some are more violent than others. The variety of settings and complexity of the stories is always fast paced and intriguing.

Don’t tell me it’s in good shape when it’s not
The seller said that it was in good shape and it was only in fair. It’s readable but it will probably fall apart after that reading.

Book error
The book is good as all of Francis's are, but this one has a binding problem with pages 139 and 140 being reversed (bound in opposite order).

Dick Francis never disappoints Interesting plot in interesting setting. He is clever in his skill to develop a plot which is always original. also able to identify and develop the human difference in various cultures. As usual couldn't put the book down.

Eagle Editions are Good
My mother in law is 91 and still reads. However she is most comfortable with intelligently written fiction from around the seventies. The earlier Dick Francis mysteries work for her because they are briefer than his later ones. I try for the Ulverscroft editions but this Eagle was really nice. She exclaimed joyfully when she saw the large print and the nice black and white contrast of the print on the page. It was a fine buy

Another trip into another world
Even 50 years after the early books, Dick Frances continues to produce exciting stories with intriguing plots that take the reader into a world apart from our own. The wonderful characters with definite class levels and mixed personalities that you love or loath and amusing ‘dated’ references to the technology of yesteryear. But in some books, like this one, he will take you to other countries, America and the Everglades, South Africa and a gold mine, Canada on a train, and Norway in the snow. As always it has been a joy to experience and with only 13 more ‘Frances’ books left to read I hope that Frances Junior can continue to fill the literary void left by his wonderful father. Over to you Felix.

Always a great read
I love Dick Francis books. He shows an excellent insight into all aspects of the horse world due to excellent research. He writes a good yarn and keeps his love interest to acceptable boundaries and it does not interfere with the storyline! I've just about read all his books, but they are always worth revisiting.
