Shimano ST-EF500-L4A Mountain Bicycle Shift/Brake Lever

Original held up well, but this new set sems more durable yet same, changed both front and rear. Lubed cabled before threading through jacket. Both took about 2 hrs, had to remove handgrips. Use same brake cables, use same cable coverings, you get shifter and shifter cable, works very well, easy 1st time install from originals. Instal by releasing tension from shifter cables, makes installing easier.

I bought my son a cheap Schwinn bike from Walmart and the pre-installed shifter was just not good, so I found this was a similar design, but by Shimano, instead of whatever off-brand Schwinn used, and liked the price so I gave it a go.After installation (Which wasn't difficult, but you do need to be handy), the difference was night and day. Much smoother shifts, and better control of the front derailleur. I am definitely going to upgrade his rear-shifter to the sister product!

I had broken my original on my bike due to me miss-adjusting the cable then over forcing the shifter. I spent way too much time taking the original apart to attempt repair. For the price and ease of the install, I wish I had just ordered it in the first place.

I like it was easy to install, and it worked with minor adjustments.
