CURT 53540 Replacement Trailer Light Kit, Combination Lamps, Side Markers, Wiring

I bought this thinking I would receive a higher quality product made by Curt rather than settling for the Blazer model available at Wal-Mart. Curt seems to have a good reputation and makes a wide variety of trailer related products. What I received was labeled "PETERSON Universal Trailer Lighting Kit for Trailers Under 8-ft Wide" and had a Curt label placed over the bar code. If Peterson and Curt are one and the same I had no idea. I paid nearly $40 for the kit and was surprised how cheap the plastic lights are made. What gripes me even more is that the Peterson product I received is available at Lowe's for $23.98. I feel that I was deceived by the product description and am not happy about the fact I overpaid for a product that what not what I had expected to receive when I placed my order.

I wanted a higher-quality wiring kit than the $20 kits at Walmart, as I have had issues with the cheap kits in the past with wires rubbing raw, and bulb-sockets getting corroded. I wasn't sure if this kit would be worth 2-3x the price, but figured I'd give it a shot. I think it is; I'm happy with the purchase. The plug is better made and makes for a better fit to the Curt vehicle wiring. The light housings have the wire junctions built in, so there's no exposed wire-nuts, which is nice. The kit also comes with a bunch of tabs to fix the wire to the trailer frame to prevent rubbing, rattling, etc. If these little things don't excite you, then the kit probably isn't worth the extra money. But if you're looking for a decent quality wiring kit, this is a good option. As a bonus, Curt has a step-by-step installation video for this exact kit which can be extremely helpful for a first-timer.
