GREAT, EASY, AND FUN TO GROW
I dont write reviews, but we have had a lot of fun growing this muchroom kit out. Some things to know... 1) Follow the directions 2) Be patient and dont over water or under water, just a few sprays a few times a day 3) Pay attention to the harvest instructions, and WHEN to harvest. We have thoroughly enjoyed watching this mushroom take off, and we are enjoying the fruits of our efforts. The smell that comes from this fresh mushroom is amazing, if you like mushrooms you will thoroughly enjoy it. We keep the house at 72 F all the time, and that has been exactly what this mushroom seems to like. Be careful of direct sunlight, and a lamp seems to work best. Be careful of direct AC vents or heat blowing on it, or overhead fans as they will dry it out. Put it in a spot that is void of direct breezes and you will have a better chance of it thriving. Enjoy, its a great company making a great product.

Best Grow Kit Sold on Amazon
At 7 pounds, this grow kit is the best value on Amazon when compared to other's sold on here. The other grow kits average just under 2 pounds to 3 pounds max. With this massive 7 pound block, Hodgins Harvest is actually less expensive than the other smaller blocks. It also puts out a massive First Flush with humungous mushrooms if grown under the right conditions. The 2nd Flush I had was pretty impressive also. At this point, I took the grow bag out of its box and threw it in a clear Steralite Tote to try for a 2nd flush, which produced a really good yield too. I was really close to producing 3 pounds of mushrooms in 2 Flushes but fell a fraction of an ounce short. After 2 great Flushes, the mycelium just burnt out as the grow block was depleted of all nutrients. However, I was satisfied with the great amount of Pink Oyster Mushrooms that this grow kit produced. It's the best one I've used on Amazon so far. Which brings me back to Amazon. This grow block is basically a block of saw dust in a square box. Yet you guys pack this product in such a lousy and flimsy box that is too big and with no bubble wrap inside. My first purchase of this grow kit came beat to crap when it arrived through USPS. However, it survived the poor packaging. My 2nd Purchase never reached my house because it was destroyed while being shipped through USPS and was automatically returned where I am waiting for my pending refund. Come on Amazon! Pack this product right! I already knew my 2nd purchase might not arrive intact because of the condition of the first Hodgins Grow kit I bought. Great Pink Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit by Hodgins Harvest! Poor packaging by Amazon! Your lousy packaging makes me Leary about buying more from this seller.

Susceptible to wet rot, be prudent!
After a couple weeks my bag was still completely stalled! I opened the box and saw that parts of the bag were very wet, the sawdust was either light tan, or dark brown, with no growth and an orange liquid pooling inside. I cut into the other side of the block, but a powerfully bad smell filled the room. I imagine that the colony was not strong or thirsty enough to absorb the water that was in the block. Maybe I received a $40 dud. I am going to try North Spore and see what my nephew thinks.

gnat's love them
They do grow but they did not grow like the picture showed the cheaper kits that where smaller grew way more...I bought them just to have something else to do that was different...The one thing ppl should also know about the grow kits is Gnats they seem to love them.... They love them more then anything else it seems like... i bought a few grow kits and been thinking of growing larger grows of mushrooms in the garage but after seeing the gnat problems i think i have changed my mind... Before growing any mushroom kits make sure you don't have any of the little buggers in your home... The gnat traps with the apple cider don't work very good VS whatever they put in the grow kits....over all tho they do seem to grow some mushrooms...I did try to get a second batch to spawn but i only got 1 side to grow...Its def something knew to do for a first or second try but i would say its just easier and cheaper just to buy them from the store by far

Easy & tasty!
My 10 year old grew a huge, delicious lions mane in about a month. We set the box aside and honestly forgot about it (but intending to flip the bag and grow another one or 3), and I was shocked today when I looked down and saw that an entire second mushroom had grown from the same spot!Just started another run on the opposite side and I’m sure we’re going to get 5+ mushrooms out of this box. Plus it was so delicious and fun to cool with having such a unique texture.10/10 will buy more!

May try again because The mushrooms were delicious
I was so excited to try these. I bought this brand based on reviews and what appeared to be simple use. It was pretty easy to use but the yield was a bit disappointing and I was not sure how to tell when they were ready to harvest. The first clump sprouted in about 4-5 days and grew to about 6" diameter. I was expecting something bigger. I probably waited too long to harvest because I was expecting it to grow more. The ends had gotten a little hard by the time I harvested but trimming off the harder parts and storing in a zip lock for a couple of days softened them up again. They were very yummy, and even though it was less than I was expecting it was a lot for just me. I used them in scrambled eggs, topping for pizza and a nice creamy mushroom and sausage soup.I was excitedly anticipating the second flush. Just when I decided I was only going to get one, about 10 days after harvesting I saw a few points of new growth. This is a much smaller clump than the first, only about 2-3" in diameter. Not enough for another batch of soup but enough for a couple of servings of scrambled eggs.I am not expecting another flush but am still hoping it will happen.I realized these would be expensive mushrooms but ultimately the cost is about 15X that of buying mushrooms at my local grocery store. This the biggest reason for the 3 star rating. If you are looking to try something different or something fun for kids I would probably recommend this. If you are looking for flavorful mushroom or just don't want the one or two varieties available at most local stores these are a nice nutty but expensive option. Don't buy these thinking you are going to get enough yield to save some money.
