Easy to use
I started reloading again after not doing so for a while. While the cost of components has skyrocketed, it is still less expensive than purchasing factory ammo, and even more important, you can get ammunition that is not available anywhere (if you have or can find the components).I found that the small Lee measure would not throw large enough charges for some rifle loads, and even throwing half charge loads it was not accurate. I bought the Hornady, for the value and because they are a quality manufacturer. I was not disappointed. So far I have loaded ball powder and the measure has operated flawlessly. The mounting system is a little hokey-doke, but it works. I will eventually purchase their mounting stand. A little more elegant solution.I would recommend this measure, it operates smoothly and is precise.

Accurate and doesn't Leak
I purchased this because my Lee Perfect Powder measure was leaking (alot) with the fine powders (in my case AA5) and it lacked accuracy with small pistol charges (3 - 6 gr). The Lee worked fine (no leaks and good accuracy) with the larger flake powders and rifle cartridge/shotshell sized charges, but the leaking with the fine powders was terrible. The Hornady L'NL works great. Zero leaking and coupled with the pistol rotor throws very accurate charges.I am also very impressed with the L'NL measure quality. This measure is built like a tank. Very solid construction. When mounted on the optional stand, it feels almost like a vice - solid with smooth, positive operation. I'm very pleased with the purchase - worth every cent.

great powder drop
well made, should last for years. I washed it in soap and water and dried it. easy to adjust. Others said they had problems using the rifle cylinder. I did not. I put the baffle in and dropped about 20 rifle sized loads. then I adjust it to throw 6.5 grains of power pistol for a target load for my .45 acp para lda . I did have some go with in .2/10 of a grains of the target load. most were right on or with in 1/10 of a grain. Maybe its the powder but it dropped very few that were off. I did order the pistol cylinder and if it gets me closer to the targeted load desired then I will be even more happy. I had the plastic red on that came with my press made by lee.while the press was great the measure was not ,often it would be off by 7/10 of a grain and it leaked. had to measure every load. with the hornady I might check every 10 or 20 at the most.I also ordered the stand for it. have not got it or the cylinder yet. All were ordered at the same e time.I would recommend this highly if your looking for a powder measure.

Better than a spoon!
Can't say I am terribly impressed with the Powder Measure, or its optional pistol rotor & metering assembly. I am loading .45 Colt and .44 Mag with Blue Dot, a flake powder. My load for the Colt is 10.4 grains. I can dial this in to average anywhere from 1 grain less, to a half grain less, without going over, but I have not come even close to an average of the .1 grain accuracy they claim. So, I set it so it throws where it is, and I use my beautiful little Redding #5 powder trickler to bring it up to 10.4 grains. Part of that problem is that it is a volume-measure, versus a weight measure. I know for a fact that a single particle of powder can vary in weight, so any measure that throws a given volume of powder will vary somewhat. In the past, I used a plastic bowl of powder, and a teaspoon to dispense powder directly onto my scale. It worked, but was very tedious and as slow as watching paint dry. I am meticulous about making sure that my powder charges are always a certain weight. In some situations, like loading my .45 Colt with Blue Dot, being underweight or overweight can be dangerous, so being meticulous is important. Even if you are using a more forgiving powder in a stronger gun, if you want good accuracy, and reliable performance, then meticulous, consistent powder charges are important. Without question, this Hornady Lock N Load Powder Measure is faster for me than spooning out powder into the scale directly (especially when used with my Redding Powder Trickler), but I do wish that they could get the consistency and accuracy of the thrown powder charges closer to what they claim in their product description. I don't expect perfection in a powder measure, but getting closer to perfection would be very nice. I also load .308 rifle ammo, and will be using IMR 4064, but have not tried it in this measure yet, so the jury is still out on that one. I will add, that when I first got this, I started loading using a brand new Lyman 1500 digital scale. I loaded up about 50 rounds of .45 Colt, and then started seeing some odd behavior in the scale, so I double-checked it with my old beam-balance scale. Boy, am I glad that I did! The loads were all over the map! The digital scale had shown 10.4 grains on each one, but when checked with the balance-beam, they varied anywhere from as much as 5 grains over, to 1 grain over. And yes, the scale had been properly set! With this powder, in its intended firearm, that would have been deadly! So, I am now unloading all those rounds, and will never again trust a digital scale! If you look close, they all have just a 1 year warranty, and all have complaints by owners who have similar issues, whether it is a $25 scale, or a fancy $400 one. Balance-beam scales may be slow, and not perfect, but at least they are consistent!

Works well.
I bought this as well as the lower "case activated powder drop" to add an additional powder measure to my Lock-n-Load AP press. I keep one with the pistol-metering insert and one with the rifle-metering insert. They make changing from pistol to rifle reloading fast and easy. The units work well and throw consistent powder charges in my experience (I verify my charges when setting the units up by using an electronic scale and also a balance scale...just to be sure). Once I've confirmed the powder charges are being thrown correctly I will run 25 to 50 cartridges and check again but have not found any changes to date (only about 1,000 rounds loaded so far).

Well made and consistent. Excellent Value.
This is one nice powder measure! Machining and finish is really nice and it throws consistent powder charges. For the price I am impressed. Have used it for .44 Mag and .308 so far, the "Lock and Load" feature for changing metering inserts is great. The inserts are sold separately but once you have one set for a load you can just label it and it put it up with your dies. Cleaning and lubing with Hornady one shot spray as directed makes operation smooth as silk.

Ne prends pas toutes les poudres pour être précis !
Très déçus du produit, l’appareil prends les poudres qui sont en poudre mais quand on tombe dans une poudre granuleuse comme de la IMR 4831 ou autres, elle n’est plus précise .
