Tamiya USA TAM87114 Paint Retarder (Acrylic) 40Ml

This is a necessary product for fine scale painting such as figures. It allows the paint to settle as it cures. The difficulty is locating this product . The product was delivered from Thailand which is perfectly fine . There is really no cost impact but it simply is not available in the continental US.

Works well as a retarder for acrylic paints for scale models.

This product makes a world of difference when brush painting with Tamiya acrylics. Just one drop per 10 to 12 drops of paint prolongs drying time, improves self leveling and virtually eliminates brush marks. I have had difficulty finding this paint retarder in the USA and I now purchase it from Asia when I can find it. It takes longer to arrive (4-6 weeks) but it is well worth the wait. I hope Tamiya makes the effort to more readily provide this product world wide in the near future. Work arounds exist but this is A number one!

Good for acrylic painting

This is one of Tamiya's hot new products and it lives up to the legendary Tamiya name. It's a great retarder allowing you to do some really great hand painting. It works by mixing in a drop or more into your paint pallet and inhibits the paint from drying too fast. It puts paint down glass smooth without leaving brush strokes. This product is still hard to find at a really good price. I can't find it at my usual online shops so I bought it off Amazon. The price was too high, but not horrible.

I have been using this stuff for a while. I add a few drops of retarder to paint i've poured into a pallet. The brush and flow characteristics improve noticeably, and it prevents the Tamiya acrylics from getting gummy, as the paint dries from the outside in. Takes a little bit of experimentation to get a proper "feel" for adding the right amount of retarder, but anybody who uses Tamiya acrylic paints should have this close by.

Encore une fois, c'est Tamiya! On ne se trompe pas. Fait exactement ce qu'il faut. Quelques gouttes et hop!

Used with tamiya acrylic paint for brushing, it slows the drying time and allows it to flow better meaning you can get a finish with less brush marksI haven't used with any other make of paint so can't comment.
