Failed in a way that no timberjack should
After a bit of light use, the cotter pin for one of the wheels came off in the woods. Removed the wheels. I didn't really have much hope for those anyways - the cotter-pin arrangement just has that look of "yep, I'm going to fail when you least expect it."I used this timberjack heavily yesterday, mostly for rolling logs (20 dia, 7-9' long) while cross cutting. It performed admirably, and I was quite pleased with how well it gripped the log.At the end of the day, I picked up this timberjack to bring it to the shed, and the handle just came out. Looks like it was held by a single M4 or maybe #8 screw. If there were threads, they are now stripped. The handle is - what is that, cement? Tell me they didn't just thread a bolt through the head and into a pre-drilled blind hole in the handle!I'm going to have to bring this into the shop to repair it, drill all the way through head and handle and make a proper connection. Not going to be able to put in any shop time until this wood cutting project is over, though - pretty much makes this a waste of $140. The $99 one I bought five years ago (no longer available, clearly too good for this world) is still going strong. Good thing I don't need to rely on this one, eh?

Makes bucking logs easier & safer
Makes lifting logs off the ground simple, safe and a heck of a lot easier on your back. In photos I've just felled a hardwood tree that was dying. The pictured log is approx 14' long and is still green, meaning it's heavy. I'm 70 years old, have a bad back (two major surgeries) and this lumberjack made lifting the log easy for safe bucking. I've already cut the top 30' of the tree off. The lumberjack is relatively heavy but rolls easily with the included wheels. I've been cutting firewood for the past 40+ years and finally decided to splurge on a piece of equipment that would have made those 40 years a lot easier and safer. Would have saved me money on chain replacements too. Highly recommended.

Heavy, but helpful
Had a misalignment problem with the 1st one, as the toothed arm did not close straight (offset to the side). To the OEM's credit, they arranged shipment of a free replacement arm, and it fits perfectly now. (Print/keep your invoices.) The assembly was easy. It is heavy to carry any distance, but it works well. Like others, I wish it came with bigger/wider wheels, and a longer handle. But it has helped a 60-something year old avoid further shoulder damage. Would buy again.

Not too mobile
Went together pretty easily. Picks up some pretty heavy logs, but traveling with them isn't easy. If the ground is soft it'll dig a hole in and it won't move very well. Comparing price and other aspects it is a great deal for anyone trying to move logs alone.

Excellent second person.
Saved a lot of time in holding logs in position for bucking. Very sturdy, the only drawback is length of the handle, could be longer for better leverage. Also include the wheels as potential issue depending individual use. Soft soil they sink in, used mine without wheels without issue .

Handle is seemingly short but it works well.
Keep an eye on the logs so they don't roll towards you when you use this. It works great but the logs can slip from it. I've used it as a peavy and a jack and it works well for both provided you have the space. You might want to grease the wheels on it before putting them on as there's no "bearing" it's just a wheel on a stud, not that it would matter much.

Lost a cpl pieces in ship due to holes in box.
GREAT log dog (that's what we always called em in Eastern KY)I opted for "used" because I'ma beat the hell out of it anyways. BUT.. a cpl pcs were missing. The peavey spike and support bar ( handle to wheel) were missing. But I think they feel out in shipping because the box was BEAT and had a few big whole in it.

Very useful
If you own property and use a chainsaw a timber jack will make things much easier and safer. As other reviewers have said the pole could be a little longer. Most peavy/cant hooks have a longer pole. I have a bad back and an injured leg and I still manage to handle trees up to 16” diameter with no problems. Very glad I bought.
