Awesome addition for camping!
This thing is just what I needed for my single burner camp stove! I have a small grill rack that I was using to put on top of this burner to balance my French press.. however, the grill grates were getting too hot and warping/melting. I was worried that this new plate was not going to get hot enough to get the water boiling in a timely manner and was prepared to drill a few holes through it.. but I was pleasantly surprised! It boiled 16 ounces in about 10 minutes. It also holds heat for about 15 minutes after the flame is off which is great to keep the leftover coffee warm for a bit. I'm getting another one for my other camp stove!

Find something else
Simply put, this is not a good product. Heating up a glass tea pot on medium (at most) gas heat it started ‘baking off’ whatever coating it has on the top. This filled the kitchen with a horrible chemical smell and changed the color of the top. The bottom looks as it had never seen a flame. Look for stainless or copper, this definitely isn’t worth the money. It probably transfers the heat just fine, it’s cast aluminum. But not at the cost of whatever I was breathing in after heating it up beyond the lowest possible setting.

Works great on a propane gas stove
Great product and I would highly recommend this to others that have a propane gas stove. We have a propane gas stove with lots of stainless steel dishes. Prior to use of the stove diffuser, we will always end up with the pan or dish burning at the bottom or sides. And I usually have to use a metal scrubber attached to a drill to remove the burnt areas from the pan. Ever since we started using this diffuser, we have not seen any of the burn buildups and the pan is always clean and a simple scrub with a soft sponge is all we need now.As a recommendation, I will suggest you turn ON your propane gas stove (each of your burners) and measure the width of the flame before you buy a extra large diffuser. Most pans and burners are within the six inch mark. If you buy a very large diffuser and you place a small pan, then you are wasting your energy. So pay attention to the burn flame size and the average pan size to determine your ideal size.

No copper in this.
I would have given it 4 stars but the information on it is very misleading. All the descriptions state "copper alloy". It is not. It is copper colored teflon. It states it right on the box. Teflon is not a metal alloy and therefore has none of the heat distributing properties of copper. It is all aluminum.

Very good, but slippery surface
This heat diffuser is very well designed and constructed, and does a great job of evening out the heat of our gas stove. The main complaint is that the top surface is designed to be stick-proof, with a teflon-like coating. But that makes it too easy for pots and pans to slide around, especially if there is a little residual cooking oil on it. It would be better if the top surface were rougher. That might make it harder to clean, but we're not all that worried about that because it's usually covered by a pot anyway.

Distributes heat very evenly.
Substantial. It sits very well on the stove eye and distributes heat very evenly. A great improvement over the flimsy heat distributor with a handle.

Be careful; the pot will slide
This product really does the trick as far as keeping stuff you are simmering from burning on the bottom... so 5 stars. Just know that the surface the pot sits on is very slick. If you have an old house like mine, with uneven floors, the pot is going to slide off the stove. The tiny movements of simmering are enough to make it happen. The whole reason you want the diffuser, is so you don't have to keep eyes on it every second, right? So put your pot on a back burner where it's not going anywhere. I am finally able to make compotes and roux without standing over them.

Nearly melted on first use - completely unusable.
Upon first use on a gas stove the heat diffuser warped so badly I was afraid it would melt all over my stove. It is clear that this product was not made from a suitable material. I would NOT recommend it. Fortunately the Amazon return process works well.
