Medicinal Plants of the Pacific West

This book is well written. Easy to understand and clear pictures is very nice. The Author does not hold back with vey informative information.

This is just what I wanted, very little wear, so great deal.

I have been looking for books on how to make medicines and identify plants. This book has been very helpful and I plan on buying more of his books. The book is well organized has some color pictures, location maps, line drawings, information on plant appearance, habitat, constituents, collecting and preparation, stability, medicinal uses and contraindications. It has a supplemental herb list, a theraputic use list, glossary and index of plant names.The only thing I do not like and it is not just with this book but with almost all of the plant idenification books, is that they do not have color pictures for all of the plants.They need that and when they do pictures they need the photos of all the plant parts. Many times drawings are just not good enough especially if you are new to this. The only reason for the four stars is the lack of color pictures.

Quite a few plants are mentioned but I was disappointed that there were not more color photos included. Was not impressed with the drawings. would not recommend this book for a beginners or those that do not know plants well.

Lots of useful information in the plant monograph section to be sure. However, I am disappointed in the composition and format. While there are photographs, certainly a feature necessary for me, they are in a "format explanation" section. I wish they were right next to the plant in the monograph section.

I can't quit reading and rereading this book. A native Oregonian, I had no idea some of the so-called "weeds" on my property were not only edible, but also medicinal! This book has changed my way of looking at the plants I once ignored. I've tried several of the teas and concoctions. Great instructions! Inspiring. This is essential reading and reference for herbalists on the US west coast. I'm especially appreciative of the alcohol intermediary oil extraction method on page 25. It makes the most fragrant and deeply colored oils (only good for certain herbs) in just 24 hours.

We use to many drugs and if we took a moment to learn how to use the natrual medicinal plants we have we would do much better. We would save money and be much healthier. When we use what nature provides us it is much better for our bodies. This book will help you to learn how to use natures medicens to help us recover and we will not need to ingest checmicals. Take a look and even discuse it with your doctor. I believe this is an excellent book to help us return to the way the good Lord ment it to be using nature to cure out issues.

This book has excellent photos and excellent information. Clear, easy to read. I enjoyed it very much.
