A bargain can't be beat at quality/price
If you have the space there isn't any $400 bookshelf that is beating this.1. BuildFeel sturdy and well built. They looks good and merge well with the livingroom furniture really good. Good cabe binding post, can be bi-amped and nice magnetic grills2. SoundThey are a well balance lots of detail but fun at the same time. It has a layback presentation it doesn't put the music at your face and I like that because the speaker disappear in to the music. The bass is good at times a bit out of control but I remedied by moving the speaker away from the wall. Also my amp is only 25wpc but really efficient speakers it get pretty loud and fill a big room with distortion free music. The mids are realy good and neutral. It doesn't favor female or male voices in particular they both sounds equally good. The hights are pretty good. The tweeter is probably where you can se some trickle down from top Q accoustics models. Plenty of details, realistic without being fatiguing. The Box. The cabinet is good and here is where floor stand are just better than bookshelf speakers. I listen to Jazz and latin music and there are lots of sounds that are reproduced by the accoustics of the cabinet you won't listen to that with a $1200 bookshelf speakers, this speaker is $400. Soundstage and imaging is really good. Great instrument separation and depending on the electronics you get that 3d and wide Soundstage.3. PairingHere is where this speakers can be great or just ok. They are pretty neutral if you use bad electronics that's what you are going to get: bad sound. With decent electronics you can't go wrong with this speakers at this price. Nothing out there can beat this at $400. If you are in the market for a pair of speakers and have A $500 budget get this before they run out.

One Thousand Off Discontinued Speaker
1. Make sure you order two. Many speakers such as this one are sold as each, not as a pair.2. In my extended weeks long research of the 3050i (updated version) I found the very minor differences not to warrant the price difference. This 3050 will be gone soon so hurry and pick up a pair before it's too late. The grey was the only version left when I ordered mine. Looks fine but it wouldn't have been my first choice.3. Speaker is 7.9 wide, 12 deep and 40 high. Not a very big speaker which is perfect for my room. Comes with carpet spikes and rubber covers for them if you have wood floors. The bottom brace helps to keep it stable.4. The dual 6.5 woofers (actual size is less then 6 which is normal) along with the rear port (comes with ports plugs if needed) puts out nice bass for those that listen to adult music. If you're into rap and hip hop with bloated bass you will probably want a subwoofer. The tweeter blends well the the woofers, giving smooth highs and rich mids. BTW, I do not use these for cinema so I can't comment on that.5. The stereo imaging is nice and wide, filling the room with music. The detail is really good but not so ridiculous that it makes older recordings sound bad. I have a simple S.M.S.L. 300A Class D amp and it matches very well. The sound is not fatiguing like some of the more V shaped speakers out there. My main house speakers have been the Klipsch RB-5 which are quite incredible but V-shaped and more fatiguing after long listening sessions.6. I'm very pleased with the Q Acoustics 3050. So much so I may save up for one of their higher end speakers once the economy improves.Update: I ended up adding two OSD 8" subwoofers to the system. I'm not a basshead, just needed more bass then the 3050 could give me. They are $200 each and very much worth it. The richness of the system is now complete.Highly recommended.

Great speakers
I bought these to use primarily for listening to old-school media, vinyl, cd et al. I also purchased them to replace vintage speakers (‘74 Advent Model 1’s) which take up space. I wanted the quickness of modern speakers as well. I power them with a Yamaha AS501. They have a very detailed and precise sound, however bass response is a little less than I would’ve anticipated. It gets a little better at higher volume, but that’s to be expected. I’m not dissatisfied at all. The build quality is super! I think the addition of an appropriate subwoofer, perhaps a Deftech super cube, will round out the sound, but again, one of my goals was free up some floor space. To be certain, there are cheaper speakers out there, I wouldn’t buy them. These speakers really deliver the highs, mids and low-mids. On certain recordings, you won’t notice anything missing. Leo Kottke’s live Crow River Waltz Medley comes across like I’m sitting in the audience, but acoustic guitars sit in that mid frequency range. I have no interest in 5.1 and I was hoping for a great 2-channel experience, so I don’t know how they perform as a home theatre component. If you’re thinking about these as a 2-channel setup, think 2.1.Having had these for well I’ve a year, I’d like to say that breaking them in is essential. They sound better after they have opened up, particularly in regards to bass response.

Beautifully musical speakers suitable for tube amps
I'm been listening to these speakers driven by a restored Dynaco ST70 tube amp and I have been extremely happy with the quality of sound these deliver. They have a balanced response that works well for pop, rock, classical... everything I've tried. They don't color the sound (which is what I wanted) and disappear so you only hear the music. Bass is surprisingly good so they don't need to be supplemented with a subwoofer unless you're into music that's heavy in the under 40 Hz range. For most types of music these are fully capable and all you'll need. The appearance is unobtrusive though some might find them a little too "modern" for some decors.
