Will these fit a wide calf?

My wife is a women's size 8. The chart delineates sizes such as B(M) US. Does the (M) mean men's size? If so I should buy a men's 6 for her?

This will sound crude but how easy is it to get mud (and crap) out from the sole by shuffling them on grass? We own sheep and want easy clean tread.

I normally wear a wide shoe. I read that these are a tad bit bigger. Will they fit?
