CATEYE - ViZ USB Rechargeable Daytime Safety Light

This light is bright. Bright enough to be seen in daylight. And, so far, it has good battery life.

I saw another review on another site about this light that at first was not impressed because the flashing light settings were "just irritating" and, he thought, unnecessary. Then he tested it in actual use on a bike ride and changed his opinion, was impressed how not a single car cut too close and most moved further over in their lane, giving him extra room and safety. And I gotta agree:The light is so bright that, day or night, I mostly use the Group Bike Ride setting, which is plenty bright, automobiles notice me and give room, and yet it is not blinding. Daytime Bide Ride setting IS blinding, so I mostly do not use EXCEPT when competing with the rising or setting sun which is blinding drivers anyway; then the taillight is at least still noticeable (brightness and obnoxious blinking pattern), so that I can still be seen, whereas most taillights on their brightest and flashing will simply be drowned in the light from the sun.If it lasts a sufficiently long time, this is going to be by far the best bicycle taillight I've ever had. With a previous Cateye (the original Rapid 3), I'd already had some police officers stop me to tell me how much they liked the light because of how noticeable I was; they'd be absolutely astounded now. If you bike in or close to traffic, in unprotected bike lanes, etc., at night, or in early morning and at sunset . . . GET THIS LIGHT!!

This light is bright enough for daylight use and has lots of selectable lighting patterns. The charging lasts about six hour with the pattern I prefer, and it automatically switches down to a top light/bottom light flashing pattern when the charge gets low. It can run for about an hour like that. So I have always been made aware of the need to recharge the unit before it runs out of juice. The rubber band that attaches the unit to the seat post worried me a bit when I first got it, but it has been reliable in the few months that I have owned it. I like it well enough that I got a unit for my wife and son, too.

The Viz450 appears to be well built, including the switch, and have a sufficient battery life to last through my longer rides of up to 100 mi. I've used it for about a month with good results.The ViZ450 has four light setting: Constant, Flashing, Group Ride, and Daytime Hyperflash (see figure). I find these settings are adequate. Other high end tail lights typically have more settings, but who wants to cycle through a bunch of modes you will never use?The ViZ450 is advertised as putting out 450 lumens, but that occurs only in the Daytime Hyperflash mode and is only a flash of milliseconds in duration. Nevertheless, the light is sufficiently bright for daytime use.Although not necessary in theory, most people will remove the light from the bicycle to recharge it because it is awkward to plug in the USB cable while the light is on the bike, at least in the vertical orientation.If you have the rubber band mount then you have to reinstall the light after each charge. I wonder how long my rubber band will last? At this time Cateye doesn't sell the rubber band separately, you have to buy the complete SP-15 bracket. There is another mount (bracket) that is fixed to the seatpost, the SP-11 bracket, but the ViZ tail light will stick out further from the seatpost than the SP-15 bracket.

Highly visible even for daytime riding. Best rear light that I have come across.

This is very nice and bright. Price is reasonable for what you get. I chose it because it was rated as the strongest bike taillight. I was afraid it might make other road users crazy by being too strong but that’s not the case. The day hyper flash mode is easily seen in bros daylight where my previous cheap bike rear light failed. I’m happy I went for the most powerful option.Another great thing is the large angle of visibility.

Light work amazing. It’s bright and has plenty of modes to give you the best visibility when cycling on the road.

Very bright, highly visible, with several flash patterns to make you seen! Charges fast and seems to last a long time on a charge. Easy to attach. Would be nice if the charging cord was longer.

Title says it all. Its so bright its stupid bright its like looking straight at the sun during a solar eclipse. You can't miss it you know you shouldn't stare at it, but you can not not take a look. Now I can't see any more! You will be seen by drivers. But the drivers will not see after they see the light.

Fidèle à la marque CatEye depuis des années voici mon retour d'expérience sur le Viz450.- Il est esthétique.- Il est puissant- Rechargeable via un port micro USB, la batterie tient extrêmement bien la charge- Plusieurs modes, clignotant ou non, il y a même un mode sapin de Noël- Adaptable sur tous types de vélo, il y a même la possibilité de le fixe sur un porte bagagne avec un adaptateur vendu séparément.
