Built in Light???
Well I didn't know there was a built in light! So, either it is really bad or I missed something entirely. However, the clippers themselves helped ease my daughters fears after an incident with regular clippers. There is no way you can get the skin with these. The bottom blade is gone and acts as a guard. It is definitely harder to cut adult fingernails as they are thicker and harder, but do the trick with the littles!

Very safe for babe, but not super effective
Baby nails are tiny! As a new parent I didn't want to cut my babe (for the record, as a not-so-new parent, I still don't want to cut my babe). These clippers are very safe and you won't harm those delicate fingers, but I found the cut to be not as close as I hoped. It meant I had to trim nails more often (which isn't an easy task) and that babe's nails were often still long enough to scratch his face. So they are safe, but not ultra effective. I ended up just using cuticle scissors until about 6 or 7 months and then switched to regular finger nail clippers--they cut close and I don't have to trim babe's nails too often.

Great nail clipper 👌
Whenever i try clipping my right hand nails myself, I end up cutting the skin near or under the nail due to lack of grip. So I turned to baby nail clippers. Most of the baby nail clippers have extended grip support but two blades to cut the nail. I recently broke mine and ordered this one cos of its unique design. As soon as my package arrived, i tried cutting my right hand nail and was not disappointed. Clipper works exactly like described. It has one blade fixed in upper side and the lower side is protruding sturdy plastic piece that acts as a support to clip nails so that it wont hurt the nail bed or the skin under nail while clipping. Its made with good quality plastic that doesnt break easily and has a good grip 👍 its great for clipping your nails or your baby’s nails. It also comes with a cute little instruction card about how to use it. Received it in good packed condition. Extremely happy with the purchase and is worth the money spent. Would definitely recommend this product 😁

Great idea, doesn't work.
Didn't work. Extremely hard to use on a small baby's finger unless the nail is super long. Despite being called a "safety" clipper, it hurt by daughter's finger when I tried to carefully snip her sharp nail. Stick with baby nail files, this thing is useless.

After many tries, now convinced it's an amazing clipper!
Update Jan 2017: after using this for several months, I've actually come to love it. It's easier to use as baby's nails get a bit harder. There is definitely a learning curve and you do have to position it at an angle and use the plastic lip at the bottom to push back baby's skin. You can get the sides of nails too if you position right. At first I thought it was difficult and cumbersome but now it's quick and easy. Also you have to frequently tap or blow the nail fragments out as you go or it will stop cutting because they get stuck. Would now give it 5 stars if the blade were higher quality for the price, and if it had better instructions/tips.Original review: This is a great concept and it does a good job of not cutting baby's skin. It's easy to hold, and I like the button mechanism. However, either due to poor craftsmanship or poor quality control, the top "blade" is not smooth but has a jagged edge. So it only cuts in certain places, meaning you have to carefully position baby's nail in the device and make several rounds of cutting to cut even one nail. This takes forever with a squirmy baby. I think it's some kind of hard plastic that looks silver, it's not actually metal. For the high price tag, the non smooth cutting edge was very disappointing. If it was smooth and cut better, it would be a 5 star product. I look forward to a next generation clipper or another company executing it better. I would have given this 3 stars if it wasn't such an expensive piece of plastic.

Finally a Solution!
Let me just start by stating that I have always HATED clipping by daughters finger nails. In matter of fact for the first couple of months of her life I would pawn the task off on my mother!Once my daughter reached about 3-4 months I took over the task. One time I clipped a little to much and not only did it upset my daughter, it also upset me (It actually probably upset me far more to be honest.)Since that day I have searched for a better set of Safety Nail Clippers! I found these and was impressed with the unique design but was concerned with the higher cost. I decided they would be worth it (especially if they prevent future incidents!)I've used these clippers a few times now and LOVE them!It makes the whole process so much faster because I'm not worried about clipping her skin!I'm also a huge fan of this products overall design. I will not worry about my daughter harming herself with these clipper when she is older, which is a relief because I have enough things to hide and baby proof!I would recommend these to any new/soon to be parents!

Nails need to be too long for a good cut
We’ve tried several times and though yes, it seems like it will protect from cuttting the skin, the nails must be so long to begin with to cut them and when you do cut them, they aren’t as short as ideal. And as other reviews say, it doesn’t seem sharp enough that it takes several attempts sometimes and you just don’t have that with a squirming little infant. We’re using these on a 5 month old for reference.
