First off, I really wanted the black one, but as usual, what I like usually sells out/discontinues/etc... When it comes to bags/purses/backpack, I like black because it matches clothes easily and doesn't stand out. Anyhow, because of the reviews for this backpack (and the stars aligning leading me to this item when I wasn't even looking for one), I gave this cognac one a shot.Now, I'm not a purse or bag kind of person. I prefer pants with lots of pockets and my hands free. Ok, so I'm kind of like a guy in that aspect. I used to use a moderately small sized purse for work since I'd look silly with a purse/bag bigger than me. But then it would get heavy with things I'd keep adding to it. Since I didn't think it'd be good for me to have most weight on one shoulder, I switched to backpacks. There are not a lot of backpacks that are a little more professional looking. So when I saw this out of the blue and read the reviews, I considered it a little more seriously.I will not lie. The price did factor in my initial hesitancy. But because it looked a little more stylish and may improve my professional image a little than the high school/college student one I was using, I went for it.To the product itself...The color actually is nice so I don't regret that. Because the backpack material is thick and rigid, you can't open it too wide. I like the zipper and tabs. Very nice. Again, the front zipper pocket can't be pulled open very far, but I do like the way it's designed so that you can't see zipper from the pocket, aside from the tab. The problem with it not having some flexibility is it's hard to put something in and take it out. So far I only put my cell phone in there because it's flat. Even so, it's not seamless movement. Another problem with this is that I wear rings and bracelets and I have to be extra careful to not put my hand in far and yank it back fast because my rings or bracelets would rub against either the lining or the zipper. I like all the pockets inside, especially the one for the water bottle. I tried putting my thermos in there. Fits right in. Of course I wish there were more compartments because I know, despite my best intentions, I always jam my purse/bags/backpack with more stuff, but of course, the size of the Valletta would be affected. The internal lining feels soft. I can't say that the Valletta feels lighter than my other purse/backpack. It's more of a matter of how much stuff I put in that affected the weight when I carry. The wristlet and tote bag and yummy fruit&nuts chocolate bar that came with it was a nice touch. Kidding about the chocolate bar. It wasn't included.I don't see anyone else mentioning it, so maybe it's only me, but is there Velcro the the backpack straps? I ask because I notice when i slide them off, I feel a tug on my hair and kind of have to separate my hair from the straps. So there's Velcro action there on my hair.Overall it's a more stylish, elegant looking backpack. I like the way it's presented from the packaging to the product itself.

Love, love, love this bag! I will admit the price tag was a bit off putting but I decided to bite the bullet and treat myself. I’m sure glad I did!Pros: very durable, ergonomic and comfortable, high quality leather and material all the way around. A very nice and classic looking bag.Cons: the pocket in the very front is very small so cannot hold really anything including even a pair of sunglasses so wish it was larger. There are no other outside pockets so there really isn’t any easy place to put small items like sunglasses. Because of that, I have to open the whole bag every time I need anything. The inside drink holder is a great idea but by the time you put in the drink, it doesn’t allow the main compartment to hold regular sized documents or a padfolio. I end up using the “laptop” compartment for all of that and use the main for my wallet and other things.I use it every single day but would change it if this same company did e redesign but I won’t until then. This bag is better than my Louis Vuitton or Tory Burch bags of that helps to put it in frame. I’m also a trial attorney so am in court on a regular with this bag and have been happy.

This is an extraordinary backpack. I purchased it after my shoulders and back cried mercy from lugging around a shoulder bag through airports. I had also tried several wheeled briefcases -- which made me look like a Fuller Brush Saleslady. Although my initial impression of the P. Mai Valletta Backpack was that it was too big, I changed my mind after tossing my MacBook, a water bottle, a legal pad, a magazine, and a novel inside. Perfect! And it stows under an airplane seat with no problem.The interior compartments are well designed. The shoulder straps are made of leather and are substantial. Because the bottom has four little feet, it stands up on its own. The complementary wristlet is attached to the interior with a line and clasp, so I can retrieve it easily, and then detach it. I really like how easy it is to adjust the shoulder straps to accommodate a bulky coat or jacket when it's chilly outside.I truly love the whole backstory of this company and how the founder decided to go into business for herself. The company logo, an abstract phoenix, is said to reflect "the power and grace of today's modern women." It is beautiful. I only wish that the logo was stamped on the back of the backpack instead of "P. Mai."I've received several complements already and I'm delighted with this backpack. It is classy, well designed and beautifully made. I can't wait to take it on more adventures!

I bought this bag for my girlfriend and even I was impressed by the quality, craftsmanship and design of the bag. Before deciding to buy this bag, I was considering the typical big name bags, the Coaches, the Prada’s, the LVs, you know the A list bags all women want and I almost went with one of those. But I decided to look for something more useful for her, since she always complains about not having enough storage. So I thought, why not find something that’s useful. As it turns out, there’s not a lot of bags out there that are. Through my search, I couldn’t really find anything that’s classy enough for her either if I went with something that’s more utilitarian. Luckily, I stumbled upon this bag. I thought hey this is new and I took a shot. Turns out this bag looks absolutely adorable on her and that it is spacious and stylish at the same time. She couldn’t be happier with this bag and she’s glad I didn’t drop a fortune on the other ‘useless’ bag lines.

Looks great and is designed with high functionality but even with very little in it, so it's not heavy, it's uncomfortable to wear. Not good value for money.
