Great tool for light gardening or landscape work.
I bought these to make holes for new pathway lights along my walkway. I have very rocky soil, so trying to insert spikes into the ground is a pain. The auger was easy to attach to my drill and made the perfect sized holes with minimal effort. They seem like they're made of durable metal and will last. I wish I had known about these years ago.

Makes quick work of mixing soil
When I opened up the package it came with two different size auger bits, some plant markers and a pen to write on them. The plant markers and the pen were definitely a surprise! I used the big auger to mix up my own soil mix in half whiskey barrels and it really made quick work of the job. I usually mix everything by hand and all the bending over and stress on my hands makes me very tired the next day. I was able to use this tool to easily mix the soil much quicker than I ever could before. The only negative thing I would say, and I’m not sure if it’s my drill or not, is that after I used it a little bit it would loosen up on the drill itself and I have to re-tighten it . All in all a very happy with the purchase

Make a hole
The larger auger is great for turning my compost pile over. If what you want to do is bore a hole in the dirt for planting, the smaller one will bore a small (duh) hole, and if ya didn't run into roots, rocks, rubble, the earth auger will get into that hole and make it bigger. (Duh again) I use this for backyard planting of flowers, small bushes that are going to grow up (I hope) and make me happy..If you are not sure of what you might turn up, be prepared for when you bore into an immovable object, that you don't break a wrist or hand.Happy gardening.

Helpful for new garden patches!
I used this for loosening heavy clay soil before planting dahlia bulbs. It did a great job until the clay got really thick, and then I had to work more slowly and use different angles. It wasn’t perfect, but the job would have been much more labor intensive with just a shovel. This tool will also make quick work of mixing and loosening soil in grow bags between seasons!

Great Tool.
Soil should be moist for easiest use and a good drill is a sure win. We have clay based soil here in N.C. . ,so a little moisture goes a long way. we love it for TREE STAKES too.

This makes bulb planting fun!
I've been around long enough to plant my share of bulbs the hard way - with a manual bulb planter. Thank goodness those days are long gone. These Jardilex augers mean business. I used them around several beds on my property, from loose garden soil to heavily compacted clay. As long as you have a well-charged battery on your drill, these augers will pretty much drill down into any type of soil. They're certainly very well made so they do what they're made to do. I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for and I am sure I will never have to replace these due to poor quality. Very happy with my purchase, and it takes the drudgery and work out of planting bulbs!

Can handle difficult soil!!
My husband was skeptical about how well these augers would work in our heavy rocky soil with a cordless drill. We used the larger auger for our trial run, digging holes for daffodil bulbs. It worked!! I don’t have the strength to use the auger on tough soil, but in my garden soil I was able to drill 60 holes for my garlic in about 3 minutes! I also used the small auger as a weeding tool for digging out large stumps from my tomatoes and Basil—worked like a charm!! My husband is a convert and likes to use it in the hard soil in the front yard.
