Their recipe has changed
Bob's has changed their recipe. Following the new instructions, it takes over an hour to cook on the stove top. This results in a very hard product that could be used for concrete foundation. I like mine more creamy. After three attempts, I have a recipe that results in a creamy pudding. In a medium sauce pot, soak 1/2 cup of pearls in 3/4 cup of water for 10-15 minutes. Do not drain excess liquid.Add all ingredients from the package recipe into the pot; 4 cups milk, 1/2 Cup Sugar, 2 Eggs, 1/8 tsp. Salt, 1 tsp Vanilla. No need for the cream.Wisk all together over medium to high heat. Stir constantly. As the mix approaches a boiling point, the mix will thicken and the pearls will be visible on the surface. At the first sign of a low boil, remove from the heat and pour into serving bowls. Do not let the mix achieve a boil! Now we have a creamy, yummy dessert. Serves 2 in our home but you could get 4 nice servings.

Best deal on quality tapioca
I've been buying the small red box of the other brand of tapioca for literally 40 years. I always make at least a triple batch, so a small box doesn't last long, and is getting expensive and hard to find! I saw these on Amazon, and this brand makes so many good products, I bought the four pack. These are small, whole pearl, not fragmented pieces like the other brand, so they need to soak a bit longer, but they cook up and taste great. If I wanted smaller bits I could always use pulse on my food processor. And did I mention the amazing price? These were less than HALF of the price per ounce of the brand. If you are looking for a high quality, brand name tapioca, buy this.

A great pantry staple
I adore tapioca pudding- a comfort food from childhood. If all you've had is the boxed version, you are in for a surprise- it's so easy to make your own & tastes infinitely better. I'm a lazy cook, so I use a double boiler or microwave. I also use tapioca to thicken fruit pies, a tip many years ago from Martha Stewart. Keeps indefinitely on the shelf. I also like supporting a worker-owned company.
