Great for small dogs! Easy to use. Balls don't last though.
Love that it's easy to use. Don't have to do anything but plug it in and put the ball in the hole. My dog loves it! Still doesn't know how to use it, but if he learned to be potty trained, he can learn to put the ball in the hole. Only downfall is the easy to tear balls. Gone in less than 5 minutes. The ball should be made in racquetball material. It's the only ball that has outlived any other (soccerball, basketball, tennisball, etc...)

No matter what, puppy chewed balls and would not retrieve
Other reviewers stated that their dog/puppy chewed the balls and would not retrieve. I said to myself "mine will retrieve anything and drop it at my feet". No. Something about these foam balls makes it so the dog chews on them and mouthes them and then flops down to chew some more. I spent a lot of time using every technique I could think of to train him to retrieve these stupid balls. No luck. In addition, they are way too small. So if you use the unit in your kitchen, these stupid balls get stuck or roll under positively everything. So training is annoying. Believe me. And the dog constantly knocked them under appliances and whatnot. I wanted to like this ball launcher so very much. My breed of puppy needs constant exercise. I simply cannot understand these foam balls (poor choice) and the size (deceptively small; choking hazard too). We returned our unit. I will look for a proper (affordable) launcher with tennis ball type balls in texture and size.

Main issue is ball getting stuck in unit
Although instructions DO tell you how to retrieve a stuck ball inside, those directions don't really work. I've had to take the entire unit apart and that is A PAIN. I'm not sure why this wasn't made to prohibit 'stuck balls'. It works well and my dog loves it, tho. I just can't seem to get her to understand that SHE can drop the ball in. [sigh]

Was an upset customer, but now I am impressed!
Edit on November 27th, 2017 —— the makers of Playball we’re kind enough to reach out to me and gave me 10% of my money back - Not blu that but they provided a label to return the broken unit AND they sent me a new working machine!!!! My Little dog and I are very impressed by this company’s decency, help, and attention to their customers! Thank you!!My dog begs for this fetch machine - he adores it. Unfortunately, the balls that come with this are torn up by my dog, but we found very small tennis balls that are the same size and similar hard/softness that actually work better than the slick orange balls that come with the machine.Previous post: This item was lightly used by my 17 lb Boston Terrier. It broke 2 weeks ago - after having it for about 3 weeks. It kind of worked before it broke - but it was not consistent. Wish I could return it! The return deadline is past. Utterly wasted $60. No way to reach anyone on how to repair it, and since Amazon's return deadline past - I'm entirely screwed, apparently. Try another one.Rarely am I this upset.Big waste of hard earned money.

Not for big dogs
Really disappointed in this product. The balls are tiny and not good for big dogs because they could swallow them. The machine gets jammed every few throws, so you will have to shake the machine and restart it every few rounds even when correctly loading the machine with one ball at a time.

Very well made product! No complaints at all!
This couch potato Playball automatic ball launcher is made very well, and much better than another similar brand I tried a while back. It has 3 levels for distance and plugs in or used battery for outdoors. Absolutely NO complaints and the quality of workmanship couldn’t be any better. It’s perfect! Reason it may sound a little loud is because when filming, my phone was right down almost inside it trying to show the distance buttons. It’s really not that loud considering what it’s doing to launch the balls. As far as the soft blubber balls that come with it, these are good for indoors but you must have your pooch bring it straight to you or it will get chewed up. You can buy the 1 1/2 size tennis balls and they will hold up better and work well. This product also has instructions in how to train your pooch to drop it in the launcher which I thought was a great feature.

Very Disappointed
I was super excited to receive this in the mail for my small dog... only to realize there are too many flaws with this product. First of all, balls are so small that even small dogs make them look big. Looks like a ball my cat would play with... Second, they fall apart so easily. Running this ball through the thrower about 5 times and the ball covers were already beginning to fall off. Not only that but the balls are not durable at all and tear easily... Last complaint is that the launcher clogs up wayyyyy too often. Seems like every few throws it gets jammed, in which you have to pull the entire top off and wiggle the machine upside down just to get it to come out. I do not recommend getting this product.

SOFT BALLS! MY DOG RIPPED THE BALL APART
The idea is great no I'm not lazy I just don't want to play ball 24/7 like my morkie does. I gave this only 3 stars because the machine is great love the battery or plug in option. The thing I don't get is why send soft balls with this when everyone knows dogs chew on everything! The balls are SOFT! MY DOG ATE ONE! I noticed it because he was too quiet. There he was under a chair chewing up the ball ripping it up. GREAT IDEA WHO EVER MADE THIS

Great purchase for dogs who love to fetch.
I was very hesitant about purchasing this as it is an expensive buy. So far, it has been worth every penny. My Luna LOVES this thing. She hasn't learned to use it on her own yet, but it's only been about 5 days. I have confidence she will pick it up in a couple months. Very happy with the purchase. Would recommend.Side Note: the x-small kong balls work great. Any tennis ball that size seems to work good as well.Updated Note: it does get jammed sometimes. I keep it by the couch so when it starts to struggle i slap it a few times and it spits out the ball. Sometimes you have to put a second ball in to get the first one out (only when you can see the first one and can't grab it).

SAVE YOUR MONEY! It jams & the balls are bad.
I researched for months before this purchase. Day one: The dog had it figured out immediately. After 10 mins of play, the ball jammed. There's no easy way to get a jammed ball out. Hubby had to dig it out with knives. From the photo, I thought these saliva proof rubber balls were like hockey balls, but no, they're foam balls with a light coating on them. They offer perfectly satisfying squishiness to encourage a dog to chew chunks out of them. The dog did that 5 minutes after we got the thing unjammed. I put the remaining balls away to try again another day. Day two: I figured if he was going to eat these balls, I'd buy ping pong balls at 6 for $1 since they're the same size. Dog obediently dropped a ball in, and it sputtered a bit then fired weakly. Dog dropped it in again, and it jammed. Too light? Then the dog dropped the second of the rubber balls in before I could get there to take out the ping pong ball. Only one ball is allowed at a time. I've been working all night to try to get the jammed balls out of this thing without success while the dog cries and bounces beside me. I am supremely unhappy. I've got better things to do than dig jammed balls out of this thing. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! Pro: the dog loved it. Con: it gave us 15 minutes of play value before it was unusable. ($10 a minute!) Hope I can return it.

Terrible balls/machine
The balls are foam therefore the dogs just chew them. Once they get chewed they don’t go through the hole well.

Works awesome. Been using it for a few weeks now with no issues
My little dog loves this machine. Still working on getting her to play with it on her own with out us prompting her where to put the ball but she is getting better. She loves the ball, sometimes too much that I have to put the balls away when the machine is not being use or she would probably chew them into nothing. I have not had any issues with jams with the balls that come with it. I did try a rubber heavy ball that was almost the same size but it didn't work and was easy to remove. I do recommend this more for small dogs as the balls are pretty small for a larger dog.
