Prison Break with Superhumans!
Where do you put the worst of the worst? Supervillains who can easily escape from the most hardened of human prisons? You send them to Deep Six. Over a mile under the surface of the Earth, and brimming with control methods both fantastic and mundane, Deep Six is the premier institution of the Just Cause Universe. This is the story of Katie, a new guard assigned to Deep Six, and the interactions she has with her partners and the inmates. We get to know her and those around her even as a breakout occurs within the facility. It then becomes her task to quell the uprising and work from within the shadows to regain control of the high-tech prison. As more and more events unfold, the heroes of the Just Cause team begin to be involved, and the story then erupts into an international manhunt filled with violence and suspense. When you think you know who is going to save the day, Healy drops yet another surprise into your lap and lets the rollicking ride continue. Is it violent? Yes. This is the story of a prison break by a superpowered sociopath and his followers. They are, without a doubt, some of the world's worst. Is it worth reading? Yes. Healy has tied the elements together in a wonderful story that will keep you turning pages.

A very good read for all, even those not normally drawn to this genre
Full disclosure here: I have never read super hero fiction. Not even comic books. I bought this because I knew the author in highschool, but did not expect to really enjoy it, since it is not my genre.I was very pleasantly surprised!! This is a well written book with really likable and interesting characters with interesting stories and emotions and motivations which felt "real." I really appreciated the strong female heroine as well.I truly enjoyed it and will likely read more in the "series" (the author has several books that take place in the same world. As an aside, as the previous reviewer points out, I did not feel at all "lost" reading this book as a stand alone without any background in the series). I think it takes a talented author to write a compelling story that spans beyond the genre to reach all readers, and Mr Healy did just that. There are several people I am thinking of buying this for as gift. I see a lot of broad appeal in the book for many on my gift giving list.In short, I would recommend this novel. It is worth your time, and certainly worth the very reasonable kindle price.

Die Hard meets Executive Decision with super-villians thrown in!
This is really a 3.5 review. A thriller that has parts of Die Hard and parts of Executive Decision in it. This book is about an escape from a prison designed to hold super-powered criminals, and two guards who get caught up in the events (like Willis in Die Hard). Not a deep story by any means, but I liked it. I'll check into other stories in the "Just Cause" universe.

Good story. The language was a lot coarser then I like in this type of story, and while I would definitely have preferred to see an out and out super-fight at the end , it wasn't a bad ending. It was good. This was enjoyable and flowed well. I can't say it was fun, because it wasn't it was grim and unnerving. But that's what it was supposed to be. A good read.

Slow start, endearing book
The action takes a few chapters to get started, which felt about half a chapter too long, but is compelling once it starts.Misrule is an excellent villain, with plans, power, intelligence, charisma, and malicious violence. The heroes are underdogs all the way, and examples of the best of normal-ish people.

Good story. Not a typical outcome.
Well written. Good character development. Well paced. And, not your typical outcome. I recommend it to anyone who likes the series.

Engaging and thoroughly enjoyable
I jumped into the middle of the series but it stands alone easily. I loved the characters and humor. It was easy to read and kept my interest. This isn't my usual genre but Ian Healy made me a fan. I will read the entire series now
