A Vision for a Healthier Planet
Dr. George Scheel has written a very exciting book for people who have tried everything else and still can't lose weight. This book is also for anyone who has suffered from rebound obesity. It is no laughing matter to gain back more weight than you lost. I personally am a bit scared of dieting since this happens to me. So with that said I found the information in this book to be quite enlightening.Halfway through the book I was ready to buy Dr. Schell's product - if only I could find it. The problem is that you have to read all the way through the book and then page through the Notes, Appendix and Index. I feel it would have been more helpful if the information had been given right at the end of the last chapter.Basically this book is for educational purposes. It explains what works and doesn't work in the realm of weight loss. Each specific type of diet is explained in detail and is contrast with the results from Dr. Scheel's testing of his own protein shakes. If you are confused by all the information out there in diet books then this book will help to set the record straight. What is especially interesting is the anthropological and epidemiological studies that show how many diseases are the result of an increase of carbohydrates in the diet. I was very interested in the information about how the body functions when burning carboydrates. It basically shuts down any metabolism of fats. The author explains why refined carbohydrates are toxic. Wouldn't you rather burn fat than store fat? I sure would. The main point in this book is however a discussion of protein deficiency which can lead to weight gain. That is why Dr. Scheel created his protein shakes. Once you read about them you will want to buy them. While reading this excellent book I did feel grateful for all the biology classes I took in school. It helped me visualize what the author was talking about. If you have no background in biology then you may find some of the book difficult to absorb. What I like about this book is the fact that it is a very simple diet that can almost effortlessly help you lose weight. Specific changes in diet are recommended. Mostly the author advises you to limit carbohydrates and saturated fats. The only confusing part of the book includes advice on exercise. The author points out studies where exercise was not effective in losing weight but then recommends you do exercise. I think his advice is good and I'd recommend exercise too. So maybe just ignore those studies? After reading this book you will look at women's magazines and cookbooks differently. You will not be fooled into thinking you can lose weight on a carbohydrate-rich diet. You will also wonder why everyone is trying to get you to eat so much sugar. This book promotes protein, vegetables and fruit. It is not an Atkins-like diet. What I think could be improved is the section on how to follow the diet. I think more details are needed and some recipes would be helpful. I'd like to read a shorter Kindle book by this author with more information on how to exactly follow the diet in detail. This is also one of those books you will want to read twice as the information can at times be a bit complex. It is however probably one of the best diet books you will ever read. I feel you can trust this doctor and I look forward to trying his shakes. Until then I'm drinking whey protein powder. Already I feel I have much more energy. I had no idea I was not eating enough protein. This book explained how I can feel better, lose weight and slow the aging process. For that I am grateful. Just eating protein for dinner is apparently not enough. Who knew that a protein deficiency could lead to weight gain? I have not read this in any other book.~The Rebecca Review9/12/2012 - I didn't lose weight the first week but by the end of the second week I lost three pounds. The weight seems to come off better when I drink at least two protein shakes a day. I am also limiting my carbs and I am avoiding all sugar.

The book talks about how we are lacking in essential ...
The book talks about how we are lacking in essential amino acids, and these would help balance our hormones and other body functions, as well as help you lose weight! It talks about 12 essential amino acids that our body is lacking for optimum health. I ordered the Facto 4 supplement ( just got it yesterday so I cannot review it yet) and the supplement only provides three of those essential amino acids! What is up with that??

Amazing breakthrough!
My chiropractor recommended this book when I told her I was having trouble losing those last few pounds and keeping them off. WOW! What a breakthrough for me! I found out the reason why I always seemed to pack on the lbs, even when I didn't eat. Lack of protein! I'd heard of metabolic syndrome, but had no idea how it was affecting me personally until I read this book. I now incorporate plenty of low fat protein into my daily diet and my weight takes care of itself. What a life changer.

Glad I Found This Book; Wish I'd Found it Sooner
I am a frequent dieter, with the familiar yo-yo effect many of you will be familiar with. Weight off, pause, weight on again. This book goes to great detail to explain what is happening in this process, and I was wrapt to have it explained in a way I could grasp. I'll admit that it is quite technical, and not easy for the ultra-lay reader, but I perservered and understood the concepts explained. I too am one of those dieters who doesn't eat much, and is careful about what I swallow. Have known of the evils of refined sugars and processed carbohydrates for many years. HFCS is deadly. I also have the benefit of my own observations, as being born in 1963 I have seen the increase in very tubby people and the increase in the availability of foodstuffs out there, strangely coinciding.I was dismayed by the reviewers here who were so simplistic in their attitudes of "well just eat less and exercise more" as they are missing the core issue of how what we eat is processed by the hormones in the body. If they are out of whack, the food eaten, irrespective of its intrinsic healthfulness, won't be metabolised by the body in the optimum way, and the body isn't fueled correctly thus the person retains or gains weight. Once the body is in hormonal balance, the desire to be up and moving is restored, to like it was when we were kids and couldn't sit still.I don't agree that the book is one long advertisement for the Dr's product, as I had to really read carefully and at length to get to the information that he actually had a ready-made product available to buy. I have bought some, with fingers crossed that it will make it to Australia, and look forward to being rebalanced and feeling well again. The big problem for constant dieters is that every diet known to mankind out there today will work for some people, because every diet targets (or succeeds) for dieters who have some deficiency or issue dietarily speaking, so it becomes round-peg-in-round-hole for a percentage, but fails with others because the others are not suffering from the same hormonal/chemical problems. The more one constantly diets, with different 'solutions', the more the body can't cope with each round of (usually) deprivation, and we become discouraged and give up. I have high hopes with these supplements, and they are not meal replacement shakes but supplements to real food, as the science made such sense to me. I am buoyed with confidence by the really positive outcomes of those who say they have had personal success with these supplements.

Very good information in this book
This book by George Scheele is a fantastic account of his own development and reveals all about the role Amino Acidsplay in our chemical makeup he also goes on to show that one size or one chemical is not the same for everyone.A break thru book for people wanting to learn about how research works and some of what was learned is inside the book.A five star read

It works.
It worked for both me and my husband. He lost 35 lbs in no time. I lost 13 in same period of time. What the book states is true. You just feel better. We plan to continue with Factor4 once or twice per day indefinitely.BTW, the new selection of 15 calorie juices by Minute Maid makes great drinks. I add a dollop of Fage plain yogurt to each serving.

A thought provoking read
It was interesting and informative. However I feel that a basic knowledge in biology would help the reader to assimilate the information more readily. The book informs us of the reasons why the degenerative diseases such as type 2 diabetes are occurring and how we can change if we up our intake of the positively charged amino acids (proteins) in our diet. The book really does give an in sight of the food groups that we consume. It certainly is thought provoking perhaps enough for me to consider a review of my intake of food groups especially when you look at the consequences of eating those food groups.

Good knowledge builder
I havent finished the book yet but it makes sense and the fact it drills down to how things happen and why makes it such an interesting read. I am starting to follow some of the preinciples in the book and managed to lose my 5lb holiday weight in 5 days! now you cant argue with those results.Looking forward to finishing the book
