40 Island/Ocean Designs with lots of wavy lines – printed one side of the page
The media could not be loaded. The designs in this book are inspired by islands and the ocean. There are many island scenes, fish, waves, palm trees, etc. Each page has a lot of detail by way of lots of wavy lines. The publishing company (Okami Coloring) has not provided the artists name(s) for the designs. The designs have the appearance of hand-drawn and seem to be the style of one artist. The designs are quite detailed and include intricate elements with lots of tiny spots to color. I would not recommend this coloring book to anyone with fine motor or vision issues. I would also suggest that, for the intricate areas, use of ultra-fine point markers/pens or really sharp pencils would be best. This is what I discovered while coloring in this book and testing my coloring medium on the paper:40 Island/Ocean inspired designs with lots of details and wavy linesPrinted one side of the pagePaper is typical inexpensive quality by CreateSpace printing: white, thin, slightly rough and non-perforated.The designs do not merge into the binding and have a framing line around the outer edges.Glue BindingAlcohol-based markers bleed through the page quickly.Water-based markers bleed through in spots.Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows on back of the page. India ink can bleed through if you apply heavily or multiple coats.Coloring Pencils work well with this paper. I found that I could layers the same color for deeper pigment or multiple colors and I could blend easily using a blending stick. I tested both oil and wax based pencils. I also found that hard lead pencils leave dents through the paper.I like to use a blotter when working in the book. I use a page of card stock or several sheets of heavyweight paper under my working page. It keeps seeping ink and marring dents from ruining the pages below.

disappointed in my island dreams :(
I was really excited to get this book!!! But halfway through my first drawing, I decided I didn't like it. The paper isn't thick enough for me. I like to use gel pens and even though I tear out the pages to prevent bleed through, I feel like the pens make the paper wrinkle because it's so thin. The designs are cute. I did look at the pictures before purchasing, but didn't realize I didn't care for that much white space. (I just started coloring books.) I prefer more intricate designs. It would've been nice to have perforated pages. Also, some of the designs do not connect on the edges. For example, I was drawing a fish that didn't have a tail. Sadly, I might have to give this book to my nieces and nephews.

Pass
The book is ok, but gel pens bleed through onto the page beneath. I figured with such a low price for an adult coloring book that it probably wouldn't be the best and I was right. If you plan on using colored pencils, this book will probably be fine. The pictures themselves aren't really detailed and sort of looked like a small collection of underwhelming pictures. The pages are also quite thin, especially if you are used to using coloring books with thicker pages for gel pens.

Easy to color, relaxing and fun images.
Although the paper quality could be better, I won't ding it for this simply due to the fact that the images are so whimsical and fun. They are the kind of images that you want when you are tired, stressed and just want to do some mindless coloring of pictures that are happy and easy to work.

Great to use when you don't have a lot of time...
This is an ok "adult" coloring book. Some of the pictures are a little juvenile. There are swirls and ribbons in places that you sometimes aren't sure what they are suppose to be. Like they just threw some squiggles in so there would be something to color in that spot. This is the book I use when I want to color but don't have a lot of time. Also, the pages aren't perforated if you like to take them out and frame them.

Disappointed
Overall, I like most of the drawings, and the fact that all pages are printed on one side only. Perferated pages would have been nice. I thought I would like this coloring book. However, I have tried using my markers & gel pens to no avail because the pages are about the thickness of 20# copy paper and there is a lot of bleed through. In addition, the drawings have a lot of areas where the lines don’t connect. I think this book is more suited for my young grandsons to color in with crayons.

Little variety, tiny spaces
I'm not happy with this -- thematically limited and with such finely drawn details in many places that there's barely any area to color. It would help if there were a "Look Inside" feature for these books. I would have been able to see that it didn't suit my tastes. I will give this to one of my grandchildren and order a new one for myself.

Lots of Good Coloring Cells
I bought this (along with a set of watercolor markers) as a gift for my sister-in-law who loves everything beach related. She loved it and said it would definitely help her relax. I used the "look inside" feature to make my final selection from several beach themed coloring books. I'm happy my SIL is happy, so great purchase!
