OspreyTempest 11 Jr Kid's Hiking Pack

The new purple bag replaces the red bag.All zips intact (this seems to be the main thing that breaks on cheap back packs )The old red bag is just less functional as the net storage are quite literally worn out!!!Excellent durable and functional qualities.I spent ages looking for this brand again as you can see the Osprey name has worn off the red bag and l put in the wrong search.Pretty certain the old red bag is did up to 4 and a half years service and was washed numerous times.The Osprey bags are double lined with many useful zipped pockets and as well as being good to look at they are totally ergonomic in use.As soon as l could find this item was happy to pay that bit extra, l thoroughly recommend this brand.The purple bag in pic 2 was only about £8 but only did 12 months service before the zips started breaking.

A very well made bag that is expected of Osprey. Fits my 6yr old pretty good, although as she is one of the smallest in her class the hip belts sit more around her thighs. This is not an issue though as she will grow into the bag and due to the quality, I expect she will be using it into her teens.A well made bag with premium materials.Only downside is that the volume is a little small due to the curved back (air movement) and the pockets near the top.

Lightweight and puts some cushion between the spine and the objects in the bag.

I didn't really know what to expect since the listing had such a large age range. I bought this backpack for my 6.5 yo son, who is on the smaller side. He is starting an outdoor program that requires a pack with waist straps and this is one of the few kids backpacks with that feature.When adjusted all the way down, it fits him perfectly! He loves the fact that it has a whistle on the chest strap.We highly recommend this to any kids needing a quality backpack!

I am aware that this kids version is already lighter than any Osprey tempest, but it is still just so heavy for so little storage space compared to other bags.All point of why I returned it:1. It does not fit on a 6 year old. I would say maybe an 8 year old. 6 years and the bag ended at under her bum. No way to use the hip belt like that.2. Due to the stiff back, the interior is even less flexible so it feels that maybe 5 liters fit in. There is no flex in stuffing things inside.3. For the weight (almost 700gr) I can get any smaller kids pack that will fit the same or more litres for half the price at half the weight. (Like an Ergobag Easy Large)And if you say: But reviewer, it needs over engineered solutions for hiking! Then go for the Jack wolfskin for kids, that weights the same, has a seat cushion and fits 20L!I do love the aesthetic of this bag a lot. It is very high quality, has very well crafted things. I might try it out again once kiddo is older, but it has just too many drawbacks right now.
