Vintage-style handmade natural rubber ankle boot with button-across flap in dapper two-tone Black and White. Designed in London, their distinctive feature is the canvas textured ankle part which fastens with three metal press studs and mimicks early 20thCentury 'spats' or spatterdash. The button flap also makes Spats easy to slip on and off and water-tight, due to the waterproof underlap or gusset. Spats ankle wellies are ideal for wearing to music festivals, outdoor events and country fairs, walking the dog or just jumping in muddy puddles whilst maintaining your sartorial élan. They make a lovely gift for gardeners, dog walkers, riders, country and city people alike. They are also suitable for vegans. The rubber formula contains a high percentage of natural latex (45% for the outsole, 50% for upper) which comes from hevea brasilliensis trees grown in Vietnam. Spats are handmade using a traditional process where the sheet rubber is pattern-cut and hand-assembled on a metal last, before vulcanisation. They are made in China in a factory which treats its workers fairly and adheres to international ethical standards. Every production run is personally overseen by one of the founders.
