The cutting mat and ruler feel like they are made of quality materials. They are not light. I have never owned a rotary cutter before, so I can not comment on whether or not it too, is of good quality. It does look like a basic cutter. It has a locking mechanism, that I believe will be useful during cutting, as it will lock the cutter in the cutting position. It also seems to lock in the "off" position for safe storage. I am pleased with my purchase so far. If I do end up with any troubles with these items in the future, I will pop on and update my review.

I purchased the item and it was delivered quickly; however one item in the package did not arrive. That was the 6.5 x 24.5 inch ruler that was part of the set. I sent an email to Fiskars to request the missing part. Now I have to wait until it is sent to me which extends the time that I will be able to use the items I purchased. I am not good with freeform cutting. But all in all, Fiskars make good sewing cutting tools - I used their scissors for years.Definitely would recommend purchasing.

It's not the end of the world, but what I received wouldn't work for precise cuts. There is a gap at the fold and measurements will be slightly off. Also, it's difficult to use the rotary cutter near the gap.

I was at first very thrilled with this mat. The cutters work well and the clear ruler is very handy. However after just several uses, the mat cover started peeling off. I didn't figure a brand like fiskara would have such cheap material, since I paid more than I expected to. I'm not thrilled at all, as now the mat is virtually useless.

The folding feature creates a “void” when cutting across that area with a rotary cutter making it necessary to snip this area with scissors. It’s annoying to have to avoid this crack every time I cut fabric. Other than that it is fine.
