1/4 diameter is too flexible for heavy soil
I’ve used these type of driveway markers for years, and they have served me well in the past. I use them primarily to keep traffic out of the grass during the winter months when the gravel drive isn’t visible due to snow, or for those drivers who insist on “cutting corners.”The product description states they are “very flexible,” and they certainly are. So flexible that to insert (pound with plastic hammer) them into anything but soft, loamy soil is a chore, not unlike pushing a limp noodle. In my case, I have an 800’ gravel driveway and heavy clay soil. Getting them into the soil more than a few inches is a chore, and if you happen to run into a buried stone - forget it. Pull it out and start over in a different spot.Product description also states the diameter is 1/4”, something i regrettably glossed over - my mistake. In the past I’ve used 5/16 diameter with much better results. These stakes are well made and highly visible, unfortunately they’re just not well-suited for my particular application.
