OX Speedskim Semi Flexible Plastering Rule - ST 900mm & OX Speedskim Universal Pole Attachment

Beginners--BUY THIS NOW! its brilliant
Used it on my 2nd ever plastering job, the improvement compared to the 1st job using the speed skim was huge, virtually flat, barely any imperfections, I also used the stainless steel edged blade.I have gone on to do a window reveal that was very fiddly, needed a bit of sanding and filling after the plastering, now its painted, everything is Brill, I don't ever need to pay a plasterer again, plastering without this would be sooo much harder, this removes a lot of the skill needed if you were to just use a trowel.Don't hesitate, get a speedskim, the plastering for beginners website recommended getting the 900mm as the best general all rounder, so I have both now

Excellent for a first-time DIY amateur
I bought the 1200mm OX Speed Skimming Spatula -High Grade Semi Flexible Finishing Plastering Rule. It's the first time I've plastered walls & ceilings using 2 coat multi. I got better at it after the first wall. I recommend having the right trowels (dont cut corners here) and watch lots of youtube vids before starting. I've now ordered the 900mm version as well so that I can do vertical strokes on some of the narrower wall sections I now need to do in other rooms. Don't try 2 coat plastering unless you are a committed DIY-er, but if you are, this tool is indispensible. I also bought the pole and pole grip, but struggled to use them. I preferred to use a platform and get up close to the ceiling and above picture rails.

If you’re a plasterer, buy this.
Wow. This product genuinely blew my mind. I’ve been wasting so much time over the past 5 years, applying two coats and trowelling over with my 14 x 5 Marshalltown. Tried a new technique using this tool and this ceiling took no time at all - the finish is the smoothest I’ve ever achieved, too. Best tool I’ve bought in years.

Worth the price
I'd watched the YouTube videos, read the reviews and checked out the conflicting forums, so I bought this with a little trepidation.Basically, it works and very well at that. It also saves time. After you've got your plaster on the wall with a standard trowel, it's just a case of going over it to move the low to the high and vice versa. However keep it clean and you'll still need to go over it with a finishing trowel (once it's gone off a bit).

Good
After 25 yrs of using a trowel this is gonna take me a while to get used too & I pretty much lay on a wall as flat as a flat thing. I have used this so far to flatter na couple of ceilings whic( it has done and quick and with very little effort, I’m sure wit(in a few weeks I will be up t9 speed with this👍

Fantastic for evening out plaster
This is an amazing product and is so much easier to use than a feather edge I had bought for this purpose. There are ridges in the rule that level the plaster out for you, I am not a plasterer and the difference in my plastering is unbelievable. The end result looks really good!

Do not buy precision tools that you need anytime soon, from Amazon!
Item arrived damaged, though package was undamaged.I organized a replacement on the 21st of August, that I was told would arrive 24-27th (the item was in stock at the time!!).Come the 27th the order status has been changed to "by the 13th of September".No notice, no apology.I had also ordered the Ox Pro Ultraflex 14" trowel from Amazon, though this time it was a 3rd party seller (Trade Supplies Online), which was not packaged sufficently and both package and Item arrive damaged. If you need precision tools for work to be done anytime soon.Buy it from a store.I'll add an update to this review regarding the quality of the tool once I've bought it from Screwfix and given it a whirl.

Quick, easy and effortless
I tend to stick to traditional methods, however, I wish I’d have started using these years ago. Skimmed a ceiling with the rod extension; troweled on first coat; smoothed out with plastic speed-skim only once. Did the same for second coat using the metal blade equivalent. Trowel-finished with ox’s plastic trowel and job done.Wanting to see how quick I can work with these, I plastered a first and second coat on a 5x3-metre wall in 45 minutes, ready for its final trowelling.
