Poorly made publication
The printing quality of this book leaves so much to be desired for a Thames & Hudson imprint. Numerous images throughout the book are blurry, bitmapped or with moiré patterns which leads me to consider that the book was rushed into publication with poor quality scanning and low resolution images used throughout. The typeface is small as well to cram as much text as possible. As a researcher in this field, I find it a shame as I was looking forward to this book but it is painful from a visual, aesthetic and legibility point of view. A missed opportunity for such an important and interesting topic.

A collection of very dry academic essays
I used to collect Thames and Hudson art books about South East Asia. The last few, they seem to be going the cheapskate, low or no royalties collected essay-route rather paying a writer to do the whole book -which they used to do to perfection. The physical book is lush with great pictures. The print is a little on the small side. That this book seems be available used for a lot less immediately after release would seem to indicate that a lot of Thames And Hudson book fans agree with me.I notice the price has ping ponged from $100 to an inflation-greedy $127 for books that were already printed, and now all the way down to $84 new.It went down to $84 a couple of hours after my review, but I take no credit.
