It has the basics but unless you're versed in the style it taste WRONG since most commercial chai in US to my taste is way low on pepper its more star anise, ginger etc. And I'm not a pepper person. It to my taste is stronger than they think since I first went with half the recommended and will go lower. I use it up but try to find something else. I had to work a small silicone coated whisk pretty firmly to blend it. When opened minimal scent but strong flavor (put it in 1 to 1 milk and water and brought to boil then steeped tea)

The chai spice is mostly black pepper. It has no cardamom or star anise. Pretty boring flavor. Works ok if you want a pepper flavor (but then you can just buy black pepper).

This is a true representation of the spice blend of the chai I had in India. Of course, every Indian family has their own recipe for making chai, but this chai spice powder brings me back to the street vendors selling chai. To have all organic spices and this excellent blend is a real find. I prefer this over Blue Lotus. It is spicy, but most chai in India is. What a lovely surprise!

This arrived with the lid off. Spice everywhere when I opened it but it’s listed as “Not eligible for return”. Is this just the chance you take?

The product seals were broken and dumped in the shipping package. Not returnable. Bad business.

I was worried after reading reviews that complain about the black pepper, but it the first ingredient, so I was ready for anything! I was very pleasantly surprised and am very glad I did not listen to the bad reviews. I have used this chai masala in hot tea, for iced tea and for coffee all with great results. It tastes warm, soothing and I can taste the other spices, not just the pepper. To find an organic product in such a generous amount with a fabulous price is a real treat! I have been a fan of Jiva Organics for years and will continue to use and try their products.
