When I first started coloring, I bought the standard set of Castle Arts pencils (not the Gold Standard pencils), but found them difficult to work with- I thought they were scratchy, hard to blend, and difficult to lay down color. I read some reviews, and tried out some other pencils. Fast forward two years, and I've amassed quite a collection of pencils that I love. Recently, I'd heard good things about the Gold Standard pencils, and decided to give the Castle Arts another try. I've been very pleasantly surprised! The color range is fantastic, and they are a nice "in between" pencil. The color lays down easily, and they have a slightly creamy texture that blends well (similar to a prismacolor) but they keep a sharper point and don't crumble/break easily or give off a lot of dust (more like a poly), which makes them great for smaller detail work. They also mix well with the Castle Arts pastel pencils (which I also highly recommend) and that allows for a wider range of light colors/highlights. The only downside is that they don't erase as well as some others-but that seems a small tradeoff for a nice basic pencil that I can (and do) use often. I can recommend these are a good set for beginners, as well as a great addition for someone more advanced.

Delivery was fast and they were packaged very well. These colored pencils are super! Nice smooth leads, vibrant, well worth the money also. They have made a world of difference in my art. Just go ahead and get these, you’ll be glad you did.

I’m a huge fan of the Castle Arts pencils but these ones are the best! They work great with any type of paper. They are so smooth and soft that your hand just glides over the paper when you are coloring. Whenever you want to draw a bold or a fine line they work perfect too! The colors blend easily. The color range is wide and the colors are not similar to the regular pencil set, so you can have both. And the price for them is reasonable. So don’t hesitate to order them because they are the best!

Ok, so my heading doesn't say much about the entire package.. but I've only used the white pencil on a bridal dress design. So it goes on smoothly and feels smooth while using. Nice. The thing is, you don't really notice the white pencil on white paper while you are actually using it..., BUT, hours later, I guess after it has "dried" or "reacted with the air," the white is WHITE. It is literally pure white and extremely noticeable.I LOVE the white pencil! and because of this, I'm rating the ENTIRE package 100.I'm definitely going to use the white one completely first, so I hope they have packs of White Oil Base Pencil sets.

So these have a story to tell. I bought them during black Friday. Opened them and they were beautiful so I ordered another set while they were on sell. Then before the second set came I started filling out the swatch sheet and decided I didn't like them. Of course I was busy with grand babies and only did one color. So when the second set came I had not touched the first set again and sent the second set back. Then when I had time I set myself down and filled to the rest of the swatch sheet. And then I wanted to kick myself (or the Easy Bake Oven that had kept me so busy helping the grand babies cook and eat cakes and doing tiny cake pans for hours so I didn't try the pencils ) for sending the second set I had had in my little grubby hands back. I discovered to my dismay or happiness depending on how you look at it that these pencils are wonderful!!!!! I love them!!!! And I want the other set back!!!!! Hey Amazon, Can I have that set back for the 39.99 they were on Cyber Monday? Because now they are back to the 59.99 And my Husband ( even though he says he loves me) will kill me dead if I spend 20.00 more dollars on something I let get away because I was too busy baking a tiny cake with a lightbulb in a tiny oven for a tiny girl in a tiny pan that I had to hand wash and hand dry a million times that day. Oh wait!? Where was he? Just buy the pencils if you like to color. You will love them. They are great. Take it from the one who discovered it too late.

This set of 120 Castle Arts Gold pencils are beautiful. The colors are vibrant, sharpen well (although I don't over sharpen them as it can cause breakage), and feels good in the hand. Note: upon receiving them I did notice whiteish wax spots on about 6 of them, I know it's a part of the manufacturing process. I just wiped it off as it's not a problem.

This set is absolutely beautiful. The quality of the pencils and their color saturation is fantastic. There are three trays inside the box along with a Gold Standard booklet and color pallet that allows you to have color variances on paper as a reference. These are perfect for a beginner or amateur artist. You will not regret this purchase.

I just started using these oil based colored pencils for my artwork. I normally work in charcoal and Conte crayon. Oil paint has always bee more of a challenge, so I thought oil based pencils would give me control and provide the vibrant colors. I have NOT been disappointed. I could not be more thrilled. I attached my practice drawing that I have been working on. I know I need additional practice, but I am liking the results.UPDATE: I still like the pencils but now that I have more drawings, I am beginning to look at replacing ones that I use more often, only to find out that you cannot buy open stock pencils. This is a drawback.

I am so happy I took a chance on this gorgeous set of coloured pencils. Creamy, vibrant and comfortable to hold. They lay consistently and create beautiful works of art. Highly reccomend.

De Castle Art kleurpotloden zijn zachte olieachtige kleurpotloden. Ze blenden heel goed en de kleuren zijn mooi. Als je kleurpotloden voor een goede prijs/ kwaliteit wil dan kan Castle Art echt aanraden. Het blijft natuurlijk een persoonlijke mening.

Schöne Farbauswahl, lassen sich gut verarbeiten/kolorieren. Am Anfang etwas chemischen Geruch, verfliegt aber.
