DG-6M5S-02B and DG-6M5S-01B are NOT identical
Was looking to replace the optical drive in my One X as it was no longer reading UHD blu-rays. Per other reviews, while not explicitly spelled out in the listing, this listing is for a DG-6M5S-01B. The drive I received showed a June 2016 manufacturing date. My XBox One-X contained a DG-6M5S-02B with an August 2017 manufacturing date. There isn't great information online about differences between DG-6M5S-02B and DG-6M5S-01B, so buyer beware, they are NOT identical. I was able to remove one of the plastic alignment pieces on the housing in order to fit this drive in the One X. Upon replacement it was able to read a UHD bluray... Once. It was unable to eject the disk and will no longer read the disk that is placed in it. The manual eject hole is misaligned so I will need to remove the drive in order to remove the disk. Giving this item 4 stars because the item description really could spell this out better and the information is sadly difficult to come by elsewhere but the drive was packaged nicely and including the necessary tools was a nice touch. Note, my drive came with both a T8 and a T10 screwdriver (which is MORE than what the listing says, how often does that happen!?) Many screws require a T9 per ifixit, but all repairs can be done with the included T8 and T10 screwdrivers.

Drive did not work; no assistance from the seller.
It’s a pain to change out the drive on and Xbox one s. My original drive stopped reading dvds so ordered this replacement. It arrived quick and was packed well with additional torx t8 & t10 drivers. The drive looked clean. It did have a slight difference on the face with 5 nubs compared to the one in my Xbox that had 4 plastic nub extrusions. Also the drive manufacture was 2016, whilst the one it replaced was 2018.I was able to install it without physical issue. However once installed it did not read any disc and made loud mechanical noise. This was very disappointing. Luckily it did not damage any discs nor did any discs get stuck in the drive. I was upset as it’s time consuming to open the whole Xbox and solder the daughter board In especially when then it does not work and have to order a replacement. The new drive came quick from Amazon and it does read discs but also creates a lot of whirring noise (which I think is from the rollers) and it keeps turning my Xbox on if not fully powered down … I will be reaching out to the seller to see if they can help with noise. It does not feel to be a quality replacement drive and I think your luck will dictate if you get a fully competent drive.I will update the review once I contact the seller for resolution.Update: after about a week of leaving a seller note via their instructions on the package insert I have yet to receive any help or reply. I would NOT purchase from these folks although the drives are cheaper than some of the other sellers. Be warned.

Not what I needed but fast shipping
The product came sooner than expected. However it did not fix the issue with my sons Xbox. I was hoping this would work but it seems to be something else that’s wrong. But thank you Nextec for the quick shipping.

He did it!
My son's xbox disc reader went out making it impossible to play some of his games. My husband researched and found this compatible part. It arrived within a couple of days intact. He and our son replaced the disk drive without any issues. Just a reminder, you do need a soldering kit do do this repair. We couldn't find ours so we ordered one at the same time we ordered the replacement drive. Easy peasy. YouTube is a great place to find videos for DIY repairs.

Glad my Xbox one can read disc again.
Came package great. It also had a nice torc screw diver too. It was relatively easy to install only had to solder two wires. my only gripe with the whole thing is when I turn my Xbox off the disc drive spins once or twice after the Xbox is turned off fully but glad to have my Xbox one reading disc again.

Beware, the other reviews talking about issues are real
So for running a repair shop, soldering isn't a difficult thing to do. The tear down process to replace the optical drive is not hard at all. Swapping the PCB and soldering the wires back to the PCB isn't difficult at all. These drives are junk. First drive I swapped it, immediately noticed the extremely loud noise coming from the drive as other reviewers have said. When I tried inserting a game disc, it ended up getting caught and scratched the heck out of the disc while trying to retrieve it. Chalked it up to defective unit as you know, it happens. Got a replacement. Same exact issue, super loud. However this time it took the disc and also ejected the disc with no issue. Problem though. Turn the Xbox off, it turns right back on as other reviewers have stated about this drive. Not to mention the extremely loud sounds the drive makes. So do yourself a favor and choose another seller. 2/2 failure, not going to try a third time with this seller's product.

Not great for xbox one x
I purchased the slim version drive to replace a nonfunctional disc drive in my son's xbox one x project scorpio edition. The correct drive would have been DG-6M5S-02B. However, this drive ended up working fine with some modification. This drive has 5 plastic nubs on the front which fit into the case when reassembling. The xbox one x project scorpio edition drive only has 4 plastic nubs on the front. I removed the extra plastic nub using a dremel.Update (03/25/2019):The product information has been updated since my initial review so that buyers don't make the same mistake I did. Now you can see the full model number.

Last purchase has less troubles...
It works, but not like the last one I had purchased. I had to thoroughly clean the ribbon contacts on this one ( lots of fingerprints) and when it ejects a disc, it just falls out of the Xbox. I does read game content, so that’s what’s important.
