I can see out but they can't see in! Great door viewer. Easy to install.
This door viewer has crystal clear clarity and is a safety must.I tested this and I can't see anything when looking in from the outside. There is no reason to buy a more expensive door viewer with a privacy plate on the inside. That's just on extra step of sliding the privacy plate open to see who is outside. This works perfect.I installed this myself in about 10 minutes on a steel door. This didn't come with instructions but it was a simple DIY and I will explain how I installed it below on my steel front door:1) I found a height that worked well for both my wife and I and marked the center of the door with a pencil2) I used a "center punch" to put a small dent in the door where my pencil mark was. (This keeps the drill bit from walking away from your mark while you are drilling). Possibly a big nail could make a small dent on your mark if you hit it lightly and would serve the same purpose.3) I drilled a hole starting from the inside of my house with the drill on the small dent I made making sure to hold the drill straight. I drilled through the inside of the door plate, though the insulation inside the door and until I had a small hole started through the outside plate of the door.4) I then went outside and used the small hole to complete the hole from the outside in (I made sure the hole was clear of insulation).5) The door viewer is two pieces so I unscrewed them to separate them6) I then put a small amount of all weather silicon caulking around the back of the lens lip on the piece that goes on the outside of the door (to seal out any moisture)7) I pushed the piece of the door viewer that goes on the outside of the door through the hole I drilled.8) I then screwed the hollow cylinder piece of the door viewer onto the outside piece through the hole on the inside. (First by hand and then followed up with a butter knife on the two grooves to tighten because I didn't have a screw driver with a wide enough flat head.)If you are looking at the pictures the inside of my door is white and outside is red.Note: I bought and used a "9/16-Inch or 14mm 9A Bi-Metal Speed Slot Arbored Hole Saw" Drill Bit specifically for this task. This drill bit worked great and cut a perfect clean hole. I was afraid a normal 9/16th bit may tear the steel plate on the door or create burrs.Hope this helps. Great door viewer I would highly recommend.

Quality Lacking - Ordered Satin Nickel, got Satin Nickel outer, but CHROME inner
Got this to replace my current viewer. Upon opening the item it felt extremely light. Barely feels like metal, and feels like I am going to break it upon installation. I ordered the Satin Nickel version. However, what I got was a Satin Nickel front, and the inside part you look into was chrome. Not what I want. If I order Satin Nickel hardware, it should be Satin Nickel on both sides. Order this with caution. I will be ordering another one from a different brand. This one got returned. Also, a 180 degree viewer would be able to view flush to the door. This one claims to be a 220 degree viewer. A 220 degree viewer would be able to view behind itself! How is the 220 degree number arrived at? Doesn't make any sense.

Quality. Works Great!
On time delivery. Quality item. Easy install. The wide angle lens picks up a lot of viewing area. Suggestion...be precise with the drill bit size when drilling the door. Tip, best to drill slightly smaller hole first to be sure fit is going to be snug with smaller inside piece. 2nd Tip, outside piece has nice flanged edge. Use a garden hose rubber washer under outside flanged lip to make more water tight fit when tightening to door. Nice look too. We recommend!!

Do all peepholes require reading glasses...if you wear reading glasses?
I thought it was blurry, but then I looked again with reading glasses and it's perfectly clear! I'm far sighted so I can see distances just fine without glasses, but not through the peephole. Who would have thought?! I sound so old...get off my lawn kids!!!

inside part looks unfinished in oiled bronze
Looks great on outside, but inside it did not come with any sort of finished looking border part, like every other peephole we have had in our doors over the years. Not a nice circle all the way around either. No glass on inside part either. Rough looking inside.

Zero instructions, fell apart
This came with no instructions whatsoever. I did not know what size drill bit to use. Used the largest bit I had, but it was just a slight bit too small. Was able to set the inside piece in place using a rubber hammer, but when I tried to screw on the outside portion it did not go well. I think maybe it mis-threaded, but when I tried to back it out, the lens mechanism came unscrewed and a multitude of little parts fell all over the floor. There are 2 lenses inside, I did not know how they go back together. I tried my best, but now the view is not super clear. Additionally, the outside piece is not flush with the door and there is nothing I can do about it. Very disappointing.

The extra wide angle is useful to be sure nobody is trying to hide out of sight.
I bought this unit for my demonstration tool kit for teaching the NRA's "Refuse To Be A Victim" program. The wide angle IS sufficiently wide that it would be difficult for someone to hide out of view. While the product works well, if you have reason to be suspicious while opening door, proceed slowly with preparation to slam and lock if someone comes running. This WOULD be useful in dorms, apartments or hotels.

Gives you a good view and easy to install
My old peehole was cloudy due to being very old . I replaced it with this one. The barrel was a tad bit too big so I drilled a slightly bigger hole. Looks great and you can see a a little more than some other peeholes. Oh, and to remove your old peehole and install a new one, just use a 25 cent quarter. Do NOT attempt it with a screwdriver or anything else . Satisfied customer.
