Fascinating.
I love this book. I have bought a few books from this publisher (Beowulf being one which I also higly recommend) I knew what to expect in terms of quality, but this book really surprised me in that I got so much more than I had bargained for. A great purchase. 10/10

Beautifully presented and high quality
I've been reading this to my English rose daughter. She'll grow up knowing who she is and the stories of her people. This Imperium Press edition is an excellent addition to anyone's library. Beautifully illustrated, well written and with a scholarly introduction. Highly recommended.

A Definitive Text
This is really quite an amazing piece of work. I can't imagine how much preparation must have gone into putting it together. The publisher has put together a large number of folktales from various different Indo-European branches, including Proto-Western Indo-European, Proto-Germanic-Italo-Celtic, etc. Some of the material was quite surprising to me. For instance, I wasn't aware of how old the story of Jack and the Beanstalk was. People tend to dismiss it as a children's story but it has very ancient roots. Those who are very interested in this topic should also appreciate the informative foreword: "Folktale and the Indo-European Folk-Soul". Not only will this book prove to be important in future developments in folkish movements, but it should also serve as a standard reference work for those studying Indo-European folklore. If you are interested in this topic, you simply must buy this book.

A Masterpiece
This is an extremely comprehensive record of Indo-European folktales. I am quite blown away by what is included. They are presented in their correct context and the illustration are genuinely beautiful as well and surprisingly they are in colour! This will give me entertainment for quite a why and hopefully I will be able to share them with my future children. It fits in well with the other books in the series and hopefully there are more to come! Fine work gentlemen!

Invaluable compilation of folktales, should be expanded
This book contains a very large number of folktales from various countries of Indo-European heritage, grouped in threes by prototypical theme. It's a great concept well executed, and the result is a highly versatile book, which can be read to the kids one day and used as an aid to serious study the next. There are no problems with the Kindle version, but I regretted not opting for a print copy and would recommend that others consider shelling out.I would have given it five stars but for the deliberate omission of tales from Iran, India, and everywhere else east and south of Europe and Russia. Perhaps the assumption was that the target audience would not be interested in the eastern side of Indo-European folklore, but this is not the case. I can guarantee that an expanded second edition with some of these tales included would find at least one buyer.

Great collection for scholar or casual reader
This work is a helpful complication of folktales with proper indexing, great for a researcher, author, or just a folklorist who wants comprehensive access to meaningful stories. Grahman’s illustrations are fantastic as always.
