AvoDerm Natural 13oz Orginal Lamb, All Life Stages Of Life, Wet Dog Food For Skin & Coat

For over 25 years, Science Diet was my go-to for my cat and then my dogs with what I considered great results. Good overall health, shiny coat, bright eyes, good bathroom habit, active and alert behavior. Fast forward to about six to eight months ago. My 14 yo Papillon, the only one left, went off the cannned Science Diet. I tried a few of the different varieties newly offered--the stews, etc.,--but he wouldn't eat them--and it was harder to find the standard adult and senior varieties he was used to at the PetSmart. There were more and more expensive brands available, but the ingredients and consumer reviews were disheartening. I bought a few cans of Blue, and he loved it, but then I read reviews and didn't want to kill him. I looked at a few more reviews and settled on the Avoderm. No local stores carried it, but Amazon did and I have Prime so I bought a case. He likes it. He eats it. I've noticed a big difference in his behavior. He's so much more active. He'll go find his toy and beg to play a few times a day. I honestly feel like the Avoderm has added some extra life to my beautiful little dog.

We adopted a miniature schnauzer in February, 2012, and we were told his hair was a bit sparse due to a then-recent issue with flea dermatitis due to his previous home environment. While the fleas were gone, his coat was sparse and he was still itchy. I had already been researching dog foods and treats, and knew I would not want to continue with the Science Diet that came with him upon his adoption. Knowing I now had a skin/coat issue on top of just wanting a well-made, safe, healthful diet for Freddie, my research led me to Avoderm products, both their dry foods and their wet, which is made with avocado and also, BTW, made in the US, not China. (People occasionally freak out, saying, "Avocado is deadly to dogs!!" Yes, the pit is the problem, and this food is NOT made with the pits!) Freddie took to it immediately, and we saw a relatively quick improvement to his coat, not to mention his feces. Nearly a year later and he is a healthy, hairy, and regular (if you get my drift) dog, and he's still eating Avoderm every day.

I'm not sure how to review dog food. I wanted my dog to like it because it seems really good for him. He's a rescue so I have no idea what he used to eat. He only likes the cheap stuff though like Alpo. He'll leave this out for hours until he's hungry then eventually eat it. If I put Alpo out it's gone immediately. Go figure.Still giving it five stars though because it's filed with good ingredients and not a bunch of cheap filler like i'm feeding my dog now.

5 stars. Great food to mix with the dry food. Dogs liked it. Trusted the AvoDerm reputation.

We adore this dog food. We buy all different flavors as well as the niblets for our fur babies!!WONDERFUL!!!

My old retriever wants nothing but original formula with beef meal oven baked. I substituted a diff flavor & she wouldn’t eat it. I think the baked original pieces are thinner & not as hard to chew for an old girl missing a few teeth. Since switching to Avoderm her coat is shinier & skin almost no flaking. Great product.

My dog not happy with food. She was not enthusiastic in the least. Will give to someone else.

AvoDerm is so hard to find anywhere local. I appreciate that Amazon has this available, because it has turned out to be the only food my little Maltese does not throw up. One of thee PetCo employees recommended it after overhearing my husband and I talking about my doggie's issues. Unfortunately, it is no longer carried at that store. Thank goodness Amazon has it, and for a really good price.
