Wonderful book, badly printed
The book is wonderful fun!! I was a bit hesitant about the technique the author uses but it was this that added so much to the experience! It would be impossible to film because it is a genuinely literary experience. One major complaint, however, is about the printing. Half of the WhatsApp conversations are black type on a very dark grey background. They are virtually impossible to read! This needs to be sorted before the next printing

Less impressed at the end than I was at the beginning!
Cracking start to the unusual format of this crime novel, which, at first, I found unputdownable. However, as the pages turned it became more and more unlikely and ridiculous. How ‘facts’ could be construed and concluded from the information provided as the story unfolded stretched credulity to its limits. I agree with another reviewer about it being impossible to read the What’s App exchanges by Charlotte Holroyd - printed black in a dark grey bubble - I needed a torch to read these sections! Oh and a note for the author; the BMA is the trade union for doctors and would represent those who had complaints bought against them. The regulatory and licensing body is the GMC. It is the GMC who would receive and investigate complaints of misconduct.

Simply outstanding
was absolutely blown away by this book. It is just so amazingly clever and well presented that I now find myself looking for more books in this style.Rather than the story unfolding in the traditional prose we expect from a novel, the book is made of correspondence that is provided to solicitors as evidence in a murder case. As the reader, you are to read through all the emails, notes, text messages etc provided, as if you yourself are reviewing the case to determine what happened. It does take a little getting used to; there is a large number of characters involved; some we hear form frequently and others just once or twice but after a few pages, it becomes easier to get your head around.I am in awe of the author and how they were able to change writing style, personality, intelligence when writing as the different characters - it is just so well done that you do believe you are actually reading real emails from real people. I think we all know a 'Joyce' in real life!Despite all the 'evidence' being provided, it did still hold some surprises and some plot twists. I may have possibly sworn out loud a few times as things started to fall into place. This is up there as one of the best books I've read for a while.

Clever and full of twists
So I was in yet another reading slump until I started reading this book, and I managed to finish it in 48 hours yay!I need to firstly point out that there is a list of characters about fifteen pages into the book so I don't understand all the negative reviews saying people couldn't keep track...With most thriller/crime novels, I can usually work out who did it, but when presented with a novel that is told only by mixed media, and even with the bonus of being able to read other people's theories, I just couldn't crack the case! (Maybe the other theories put me off... we'll say that.) I felt like I was reading an interactive crime novel.'The Appeal' has a double meaning in this book and I won't give anything away but it was so clever. The more I read it and the more evidence I saw, the more I had to read on. And there were so many twists and so many overarching storylines!I did also love that one of the many storylines focused on a local amateur dramatics group because it felt a bit like home ❤ (though the only scandals we had were affairs). If you haven't already read this then you need to!!

Appalling
I’m an avid reader of crime novels (amongst other etc genres). Be it Izzo, Dibdin, Peter May, Kellerman, Leon- from gritty to lightweight.I didn’t like the format of this book from the outset but was prepared to see it through. It was incredibly weak, with poorly developed characters and a banal story line which sent to me to sleep at every turn. How this won accolades I cannot begin to imagine. It was one of the worst books I have read in a very long time.
