ingredients to make injeolmi (rice cakes coated w/roasted soybean flour), product of Korea
Injeolmi are Korean dessert of rice cakes made from glutinous rice flour (like the kind used for Japanese mochi) and tossed and coated with finely ground roasted soybean flour. The flavor is nutty or sesame seed-like. It's also not very sweet by Western standards, which is typical for many East Asian desserts.Anyway, this kit has all the ingredients you need to make injeolmi at home and it produces a good result. You have to be patient and let the dough cool and sit for a bit to get better shaped cakes. It's a product of South Korea.

Gross,
Must had sugar. And mix in bowl , not bag. There is still clumps of it. And less water. Half less.Steam, even while in the bag to keep the correct shape.I'm Asian, and I grew up with sticky rice flour in a lot of Asian recipes. So I am very picky.I bought it twice, due to I put the amount of water it said, and it was so wateryI bought another, to add less water, clumpy, saying to mix in bag.The taste was not good, needed sugar, I took a bite and spit it out,And I have bought this already made at hmart before. It did not taste like this bag at allI bought it because I remember buying it at an hmart in California. This is not the SameI will just buy the power for the outter layer, and homemake the rice cake

A fun snack to make with kids
This is a very interesting snack. It was fun for my kids to make and taste, and I think that trying foods from other parts of the world is a great way to get kids interested in learning about other places and cultures. This is truly a unique snack from another part of the world, we'd never tried anything like it before. The finished snack is very gummy and chewy. The taste is a nice balance of sweet savory salty and nutty. I really enjoy the flavor. My kids liked the flavor but not the texture. The directions on the package are all in Korean. Fortunately the product page has directions in English (I don't speak or read Korean). It's very easy to make, you add the rice flour sesame oil and some water to a ziplock bag, knead it in the bag, then coat it in some powder. They include one glove and all the ingredients and the bag. I wish they included 2 gloves, but even with just 1 it is easy and fun to make. The only thing you supply is water. My kids had a blast making it. The small 1 serving bag made 8 finished rice balls (you could easily make more smaller balls). The mix I received in January 2021 had an expiration date of March 2021.

Rice Cake Miz
This is easy to make. The rice cake is chewy, mildly sweet, and nutty. The portion is very small. It makes like 8, 1in pieces. I won’t be purchasing this in the future since it’s just okay. However, this would be neat to get for the kids to try out once.

Interesting
This is a very interesting and fun product. If you like to try new things this is a great way to get a taste of something different. I've been to South Korea and have had many rice cakes that were expertly made by the folks that we visited there. My attempt, using this kit, was less successful, but fun and delicious none-the-less. The failure was mostly that I couldn't get the texture right, from what I remembered. The instructions were easy enough to follow, even though they were only in diagrams. The packages were clearly marked to show how much water to add. Kneading the rice dough is very fun and kind of relaxing. This is great fun to try. I recommend it.

NUTTY RICE CAKE
The direction is all in Korean so I had to go back on the order to look up the direction. It's pretty easy. Not sure if the date on the flour mix is an expiration date or not. Pour the sesame oil into the bag, pour water up to the line, and then the flour mix. Mush everything together under all the flour is gone and let it rest in a log form for a couple of minutes. Then pour the bean powder into a plate, use the glove to take it out of the log and cut it into bite-size pieces into the powder and make sure it's covered. And that's it, just eat. Take like peanut butter flavored mochi. Not sure if it's storable so I ate it all on the same day. I like it!

Tastes good, authentic
This tastes really good and is authentic tasting. It was easy to put together but got a little messy when it came to coat in the soy bean powder. If you dont have korean shops near you this is definitely worth getting. The price point is high so 4* just for that. This is only 1 serving size.

Complete kit, fun for the kids.
My niece was over visiting and I thought this would be perfect for her to make. She has recently expressed an interest in making cookies and brownies, and while this doesn't involve cooking, it is multi-step food preparation with the bonus of exposing her to another culture. With only minimal supervision she was able to prepare this. I did supply her with a second glove and I'd suggest you do the same. Other than water, everything needed is included, a bonus. While not like anything I've eaten before, it was quite good. You don't get much from this kit, but everyone seemed to enjoy it. I would have purchased a second kit had I realized the amount of "cakes" this kit makes so people could have tried more than one, but that was my fault for not paying more attention to the listing. This was an enjoyable kit for my niece to make...it's always nice to see the look of accomplishment. I would definitely considering purchasing this in the future and also exploring what other cultures' desserts are available.
