Actual CO2 measurement with NDIR sensor
Bought to monitor CO2 levels in house to check for stale air and whether need to ventilate. I'd previously owned an air quality meter that purported to measure CO2 as well as VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and the like. Unfortunately, these infer the CO2 from the quantity of VOCs, they don't directly measure CO2, so the problem is they show elevated CO2 when it isn't, but rather there's elevated VOCs e.g. from a scented candle. Anyway, this monitor genuinely has a NDIR sensor - shines an infrared light through the air and calculates the quantity of CO2 between the IR source and a IR sensor by how much IR light (of a particular frequency) is adsorbed. Although I don't have any sample gases of known concentration, it's easy to demonstrate it is working. First I held an unlit (butane) lighter near it, which had no effect on the reading, but on the air quality meter caused the CO2 as well as the VOCs reading to clip to maximum. Conversely, I then discharged a CO2 bulb (emergency bike tyre inflator) near it. This caused this meter reading to clip to maximum, whereas the reading on the air quality meter didn't change.

I can't believe how good this is
I calibrated outside at 410 then put it in my studio. The reading climbed up to 2,000 and in the red; I thought this cannot be right! I opened the doors and within 10 mins it came back down to 410 once again, back in the green.I've done many tests like leaving it on overnight with the doors closed - still at 410. After a while with my breathing in the studio, it starts climbing again. For me it's a godsend. Yeah, I know I have to ventilate, but I never know when and I didn't know how much - but I do now.I guess many of these monitors have the same functionality, I bout this because it's easy to read and I know what red, amber, and green means, but not eh C02 numbers (although I do now). I will be using this at family gatherings in the home now I know what's happening in the air.Great product, I highly recommend it.

Worked great until it stopped charging. went dead after about 45 days from purchase. Sent vendor email but got no response. So, don't expect the warranty to be honored. :-(

unglaublich
