A Silky, Stalwart, and Sound adapter by Solmimi!
I thought I would write a brief review of this Solmimi 1/8” to 1/4” adapter cable. I’d been interested in picking something like this up over the last few months but only decided to pull the trigger recently, and very glad I did! I plan on doing a short three scenario test, which I will slowly post up as I put my studio back together. Let’s start with the fact that I love how this thing feels. As a music and gear head, I obviously know a large swathe of cables, connectors, adapters, and such, so I’m always on the lookout for good build quality. I can usually tell right off the start when an item is cheaply made, or at least if it feels that way. As soon as I took this adapter cable out of the bag, it felt … how should I say this: NICE. It had a distinct feel to it that I noticed as soon as I picked it up: it feels well constructed with the braided cord and metal connectors, but had this very nice flexibility to it that I haven’t really experienced with any of my other cables of this caliber. It’s hard to describe it really, but it was a notable experience for me.After I played around with the cable flexibility a bit, I went ahead into the testing phase. My studio is getting rearranged right now, so I’m only able to test it with my DJ setup, as that was the easiest to put back together. I have an Allen & Heath DB4 mixer, which as many DJs will know is one of the best in the industry, and this of course means superior sound quality. I tested the cable sound quality by playing a few FLAC files through the mixer directly to my headphone, and then played the same files again, but this time using the Solmimi adapter. The sound quality was exactly the same, which is a good thing! Of course, this is not a scientific process, but to my ears the SQ was consistent. Also worth noting that I ran these tests on two pairs of headphones - my Sennheiser HD-25ii’s (which I use for DJing in the club environment), and my Audio Technica ATH-M50’s (which I use for music production purposes). In the specific usage for DJing, these adapter cables are great as a replacement option for the direct 1/4” to 1/8” adapters that most headphones need to plug into mixers. I think I may buy a second set to carry with me in my headphone bag for gigs in case I forget the screw on ones at home by accident, or in case a fellow DJ forgets his/hers (and all DJ’s know that this happens WAY more often than it should). For now, though, since there are no gigs due to COVID, I’ll just leave this plugged into my Allen & Heath, or one of my other device scenarios that I’ll talk about in my review update. The one thing I like about this adapter vs some of the screw-on ones that I have laying around the house is that it’s very easy to just swap headphones with this adapter cable, whereas with screw-on adapters, well … obviously you need to screw those on. And yes, I know you can buy the non-screw-on adapters, too, but most of those just feel cheap to me. This actually feels like a quality piece. Stay tuned. I’ll post more pics and perhaps a video in the next few weeks.

Perfect
Works great. No noise.

Lightweight cable but no noticeable loss in sound quality.
Ideal length for enjoying wired headphones further away from the amp. Cable is lightweight but seems sturdy and durable. Works fine with Hifiman Edition XS and a decent amp with no change in sound quality to my ears, while adding convenience.

Worth the cost.
First I bought a cheaper one; had to throw it away. This one fits perfect, sounds perfect, and having a short cord is really a good idea so strain is not put on your headphone's cable at the connector.

Works well, solid cord
Purchased for use with in-ear monitoring system because my headphone cord was too short to reach the IEM unit. Sound quality is very good. From the pictures and item description, I worried that the cord would be stiff, but it ended up being surprisingly flexible. Happy enough with the product to make a second purchase of a cord of longer length.

Exactly What I Needed
Exactly what I needed to connect my old headphones to my powered mixer. Appears to be well made and sounds fine sonically.

Works as expected
Ordered this in and it came next day, so that was a plus. Works as expected. The outside is lined in a mesh style material (not rubber). Rolls up nice. No issues with this adapter.

Macht was es soll
Als Adapter, der nur wenig von mir genutzt wird, tut er was er soll. Fühlt sich wertig an und sieht auch so aus.
