A very good device but not perfect.
I needed an analyzer that would go below 1.8 MHz, the low frequency limit of my trusty MFJ-259B, in order to find the resonant frequency of a new 160 meter inverted L with a minimum of trial and error. The SA-160 fit the bill at a reasonable price. The good: I was easily able to find that my antenna resonated 150 KHz below the desired frequency. I did the math, adjusted the length of the antenna, and the new SWR minimum was spot on. I love being able to see a graph of the antenna's SWR curve. On a multiband antenna you can see each SWR minima by adjusting the frequency span of the plot to show, for example, a frequency range of 140 to 28 MHz for a typical tribander. The bad: The owner's manual, if you can call it that, is terrible. It's badly translated from Chinese. It took me a lot of trial and error to figure out how to adjust the frequency span of the graph. It can be adjusted from a maximum of 62 MHz wide to a minimum of 270 KHz wide but the manual doesn't really describe how to do that. I found the color display hard to read outdoors on a bright with snow on the ground. I wish I could export graphs to a PC but I can find no such capability - the device's mini-USB port is for charging the internal battery only.Overall, for $149.00, it's great addition to my hamshack.

Rotary Encoder does not work
I could not get my unit to set a frequency or a range of frequencies. The rotary encoded sometimes goes up in frequency when you turn it CW and sometimes down in frequency and sometimes just moves between several frequencies. The bottom row of buttons do not function correctly either. The quick view is supposed to provide 3 ranges of frequencies. Mine would not provide the lowest range - the one I was interested in no matter what I did. The unit would not do any of the basic functions described in the manual - so gave up and sent it back.

malfunction
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. it does not work. Zx and Rs is stop at 446 and does not change. Impedance and resistance readings are useless. Only SWR.-I live in South America return the product is not viable for the value of the shipment. Lost money. There should be a quality department for shipments to remote areas where there is no possibility of change.-UPDATE REVIEW:Customer service sent me a new replacement circuit board. The customer service is fast and efficient. They solved the problem.- I bought a second unit. I'm happy with the two.- :)

An example of poor engineering here
An example of poor engineering here. The rotary selector switch does not have an effective debounce circuit so going through menus is really annoying. I've seen this complaint from others, and I've seen it on more than one unit. I even replaced the rotary encoder with a higher quality unit and it didn't make a difference. This is a code problem. The user interface is not great. Making simple changes like frequency span or center frequency are not intuitive and the terrible instructions are practically unreadable. It does however do its job, and I have used it to tune antennas. It is also compact and inexpensive, so the value proposition is enough to purchase this, but the software could use a serious update!

... I can tell you that this unit is a great unit and gives me the best bang for the buck ...
I did a lot of research on the current and past devices and I can tell you that this unit is a great unit and gives me the best bang for the buck. It doesn't do everything, it's not sexy, but it does do what is needed and it is in a box and seems to be well constructed. That is what I wanted, not every bell & whistle. I havn't had all the time to experiment with the antennas I want too but when I do, I am sure this tester will perform great for all that I'm looking for.Good stuff.

It is possible to for this unit to work
it works. but I have trouble with the knob on the top. cant seem to get it to move one step at a time. Settings keep jumping up and down when trying to change freq.I turn the knob one step, but the frequency continues to change up and down. I returned the first unit I received. The settings on that one kept changing every time I just touched the top knob. When I can get the frequency set on this unit, it does work. Of course the directions are impossible to understand. Plan on spending time experimenting with how to operate it.

Great for "Go Kits"
This is an excellent analyzer at a sensible price. It would be better if it had a better manual written in proper English not simply describing the controls, but also providing more information about the proper usage of the functions allowed. It is small and entirely self-contained, which makes it the ideal analyzer for your "go kit".

A great piece of gear.
i really like this piece of test gear. Being able to analyze the SWR and impedance in an antenna has been a great help. It is pretty intuitive if you play with it for a while which is good because the manual is not very clear. It seems well made and it actually came with a fully charged battery. How often does that happen? I recommend it to anyone that is Building or tuning their antenna

Get what you pay for, sometimes.
Returned as faulty as the selector knob is so sensitive and irregular, it was verging on the impossible to select the function I wanted.

Piccolo prezzo, ottima resa
