Excellent information on the makers mark
It's a good source to compare makers mark, its has information on diffrent designs and plenty of photos. Pricing is in $ and dated but still a great little book.

Fun Rather than Functional (Amazon Main Failure)
(Amazon Main Failure Strikes Again: Different Editions not catered for)First off I would like to complain about the binding as the pages fell out as I was reading it; though not new there are limits to how often the book could be opened before self destructing. The contents are amusing rathe than informative. There is a brief history but minimal text before several pages of marks and then the the colour plates. The willow pattern covered here is not just confined to crockery; there is a silver plated tray, some glasses and even saucepans and a toaster. From an antiques ceramics point of view the book leaves somewhat to be desired, especially among definitions. Perhaps things get mistranslated as they cross the atlantic. Muffin dishes described as butter dishes, kidney shaped hors d'ouvres dishes called "bone dishes" and an egg cup called a toothpick holder and filled with toothpicks. The values given seem anomalous as well. A Miles Mason hard paste plate for the equivalent of a 20th century example? The book is amusing as long as you do not have any serious expectations or believe there could be anything like a definitive price guide. The second edition is twice the size of the first, and needs its own review, a situation that Amazon repeatedly fails to address.
