Hope to love it eventually
We bought two of these gates for our new puppy. When we got the dog he was about 5 lbs. My husband installed the gate without any frustration or cursing heard on my part, so I assume it went well. I love that they are easy to use. Unfortunately they are easy to escape at our dog's current size, even in the locked position. My hope is that as the dog gets bigger he will be too big to squeeze under them. They are durable in that they roll up when open and stay out of the way. Our dog has even dove at the gate trying to go right thru it only to be pushed right back into the room he was supposed to be in without any damage to the fabric. One is a standard 32" door and the other gate was about 60" wide and both have done well over the past week that they have been in use.

Did the Trick for a very active puppy
We have a 6-month-old Golden Retriever mix and let's face it: Puppies just wanna chew! They can't help it, and it's hardwired into their brains; all the chew toys and activities in the world won't curb their need to "try" any and every item available. Luckily there are plenty of barriers available and we bought three of these for the house and they've been perfect. Also: The pricing is absolutely reasonable. For some areas that we go through a lot, we did get more traditional metal gates because they can swing open and closed with less effort.Functionality: These are relatively unobtrusive once installed, allow air to move from room to room, yet to MOST dogs will "seem" like an impenetrable barrier. I say "seem" because a dog that is really determined would in fact probably find a way though (by eventually chewing through it) or leaping over, but that probably applies to almost any barrier. If you have a "jumper" no barrier other than a closed door will work. For everyone else this is great.Anyway, we have a couple of different pet gates throughout the house. Some are traditional metal "swing" gates that are better for frequent opening and closing. But for some areas we wanted the ability to close them off "most of the time" but then at other times just have the barrier "disappear." These fit that need perfectly.Caveat: DON'T get one of these if you are constantly going in and out of an area/room and want to keep the barrier intact. That's NOT what these are made for IMO and will likely be a frustrating experience if it's used that way. Yes, in theory one could keep opening and closing it, but like a pull shade, you're going to wear the springs down. This is for keeping a door blocked and then having it open for a period of time.INSTALLATION: Extremely easy to install if you can handle hanging a picture or any other simple home maintenance task. They may claim all you need is a screwdriver, but I beg to differ: Get a simple cordless drill or cordless screwdriver to save both time and on frustration. I also have to say that for MOST purposes, the screws included are absolutely overkill. If you are screwing into a wooden door frame, door yourself and the frame a favor and use shorter screws. Otherwise, you'll end up having to drill pilot holes out first and again, any 1.25" screw will be more than adequate for the four attachment points. The exception to the above is if you are planning to screw into plaster or drywall, but I'd avoid that if at all possible. The included double-sided tape is handy for setting things in place first and then screwing the pieces down and a thoughtful addition on the manufacturer's part.

Great for blocking bottom of stairs!
Bought to be used specifically for the bottom of a staircase. Wanted this so that there was no gate which would limit the available space to walk through. Also had to contend with a high base/kick board and also open shelving on the other side. (See photo)Chose the install over stick on because I knew my daughter was going to try to climb it. Simple install for the slightly “handyman” person. Read the directions! So easy. Use a stud finder and a power drill. You’re good.Tested where to place the hooks to latch it closed. So happy with the height adjustable mount (slid up to a height that made it mountable over the baseboard)!STRONG! Stuck to the wall. (It is drilled into the stud!) and the hooks are drilled into the wood shelving. My daughter has pulled in the top of it (see photo) as long as it is “locked” on the scroll side, that’s all the give it has. She cannot lift the bottom up to crawl under as it butts up against the bottom step.FLAW: Only thing I don’t like is that it can be a pain to hook and unhook one handed. The “handle” is cut out closer to the top “hook-on” opening, which means if you pull on the “handle” opening, the tension is off. Sometimes I can get it smoothly hooked and unhooked… sometimes not.OVERALL: So happy with this! Recommend it! It takes up no space at all like a standard gate when open. It is SAFE for my little to play and I don’t have to worry about her going up the stairs.

Very good but don’t skimp on width…
We order the smaller gate and discovered that the didn’t allow for any additional pullout (not even a 1/2”)… the one way it is intended to be mounted requires a little bit (maybe an inch) of additional pullout when latching it something you can’t do without overstretching the unit… we prefer the longer one which now has about a foot of excess and it works flawlessly…

not great for small pet containment, but likely great for kids
Pros: rolls like a window shade and is out of the way when open, locks easily to the threshold hooks. has a locking feature to prevent opening when desired.Cons: Usually need two hands to open so can't carry anything between rooms when closed until you open it. for pets, our 25 pound dog found a way to push her way under it making it useless for containment. took off a star for pet use, but probably works better containing children from a wide opening at a great price

My son 6 try to climb over and one of the plastic piece for the wall amount broke. We still use it wish I could get another bracket.

Great for keeping the dogs in!
Tall enough to keep my German Shepherd in, sturdy enough that the boys can’t slip under it or break it, and easy to open and close when needed. This was the perfect solution to finding something to close off the opening to our porch stairs, without having to add something permanent or expensive.

Convenient! And keep my dog from going upstairs and having to close the bedroom doors
The mollies that were included, and the screws were not compatible with each other. The screws were too thin for my opinion, and did not hold so I had to use different screws
