Everyone Should Enjoy this Story
I love this book. Julia is so sweet. It's wonderful how she rushed off to go help her Uncle Ran. The story is charming.

I couldn’t put it down!
I am in love with D. E. Stevenson. These books are utterly delightful. It’s such a simple story, yet it has such depth of language and character. It’s rich with humanity, poetry, and romance. And happy endings for all! Well, all who deserve them, anyway. I think I will never again look at a sapphire without thinking about Julia and Stephen and how sapphires need sunshine and blue skies to shine. Enjoy it!

A Gem of a Book
I have no idea how often I have read The Blue Sapphire. My paperback copy has fallen apart, so now I'm glad to have it on my Kindle. All the characters are likable and credible. The plot makes sense. The settings are well presented. I simply love it and strongly recommend it.

Wonderful escape!
Another D.E. Stevenson masterpiece! Loved all the settings and detailed characterizations. Full of realistic emotions and entertaining twists. Skillfully paced. It was an enjoyable page turner.

Simply wonderful.
Reading this story is a lovely way to relax on a rainy winter night or on a sunny beach. That said it will not suit all tastes (what book does). The short scene containing descriptive language regarding Africa and Africans is from times past and not at all currently acceptable. That said it is used to describe a scene in which great caring and risk is taken for a dying stranger so the true challenge for the reader is whether they can accept that how one speaks is a function of time and place whereas how one acts can reflect deeper, timeless values that extend care and concern to all.

Charming, but rushed ending
The character development was lovely, though the supporting cast not so much. Pretty one dimensional. The ending felt rushed. When I turned the last page it I looked for more pages. It felt incomplete. It just needed an epilogue to wrap it all up. Still, it actually was finished, everything important wrapped up well enough.

Good book
This was the first D. E. Stevenson book I read back in 1965. I looked for more and managed to get copies of a lot of them back then - but not all. It's great to see them being issued as Kindle books. They give us glimpses into a world much simpler than now. It's refreshing not to have pages and pages of sex in a book.

A delightful story
I am a big fan of Mrs Stevenson's books. And I have quite a few od them in hard copy. I am very pleased that I can get more of her 'out of print' books through Amazon now.She writes in a way that you can forget your problems for a few hours and be left with a warm peaceful frame of mind.

Fantastic,relaxing read
This story is the perfect way to spend a couple of relaxing afternoons. Like many of Stevenson's stories there is a romance but, very importantly, there is also an interesting and believable story, complete with characters I'd like to meet.As a bonus the Kindle version has retained the British English the story was written in. Always a bonus - thank you Amazon!

Another Charming Novel of Family Relationships, Love and Sacrifice
D.E.Stevenson wrote some really nice, characterful and entertaining books. The Blue Sapphire is right up there with the best. In some way the plot is simple but absorbing as a girl who is soft and gentle finds a principle to stiffen her spine and thereby change the course of her life. Many of the characters are entertaining and very realistic even when only a minor role. Curiously a few of the characters act like cardboard cutouts, especially the father, and are therefore made more effective against the vibrancy of the others. If you want to read a gentle romance of yesteryear, Clean with humour, good English and no sex scenes, this and all other books by this author are for you.

A gentle read
One of my favorite Stevenson books. I was happy to see that they used the British edition for the ebook (rather than the edited American edition) as it gives additional details that I find add depth to the characters.

The Blue Sapphire
The service was prompt and efficient and the book arrived in good condition. My only complaint is that it was a large print book and I hadn't noticed that on the listing.
