Otto's Tales: Today is Veterans Day!

Otto books are usually very good and my grandson loves them. This wasn't a "bad" book, it just wasn't about veterans. It did cover the various branches of the military, just wasn't on topic. I want my grandson to understand the difference between Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Armed Forces Day. This doesn't do it.

I started purchasing the Otto and Denis adventure stories for my great nephews and great nieces (ages 18 months to 13 years) to teach them about historical events that may or may not be being taught in their schools. So far I've purchased and gifted the Pledge and American flag, 9/11, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving books. I just purchased the Christmas book, but have not yet received it. My nieces have commented that my great nephews and nieces are thoroughly enjoying the books and are looking forward to receiving their next books. I've read the books myself before mailing them to my great nephews and nieces and have have found them to provide a good basic history of all the events depicted in a fun and interesting manner.

I appreciate the topic but the story line and flow could have been better. I think I shorter story line with less clunky rhyming would have served the same purpose. As a father that reads nightly to his kids, this wasn't something I found interesting to read to them. I want more of story and not just a list of the different branches of the military. Perhaps a focus on the fact that they are all volunteers would have been a better route to take.

I love Otto’s Tales! I love that there are more books coming. I especially loved this one because my heart has a special place for those who have served our country. All kids should learn about our military and hopefully thank them.

PragerU is just killing it. I was never good at showing my kids how to thank our men and women who serve, and this book does a tremendous job. These books are covering so many good topics for our kids. I love it. Keep up the good work! Highly recommended!
