This works so well!!
This works so incredibly well. It was so easy to distribute on ice. I highly recommend buying this, two are definitely needed because you run out so fast.

This pertains to packing, not the product itself.
The PRODUCT is excellent. This is about the PACKAGING/SHIPPING. Both containers were broken open when received. There was insufficient packing to protect them, resulting in product being spilled all over the inside of the box. Since this product absorbs moisture from the air, and does so very efficiently, what I received was a mushy mess that had to be completely discarded. The vendor would do well to see this material is adequately packed to prevent it from bouncing around and breaking open. (The box itself was not damaged at all, but was getting wet by the time it was delivered.)

Works in below zero temps and doesn't pit your concrete.
I ordered these pellets to allow me to use it even if there is ice on a concrete porch. Works as good as any other product I've tried. The only negative is the price, but ease of use, and melting capacity are highlights of this product. Which is cheaper, this ice melter, or a trip to the Urgent Clinic after you fell because your cheaper salt didn't work?

Use this to PREVENT Ice--not to melt ice that's already there
The best way to use this is to sprinkle it on your driveway, steps and walkways BEFORE it snows. I do it a few days ahead of time when the pavement is dry and it's not raining (I don't want the product to be washed away). The granules melt and the liquid coats the pavement, soaking into it. The pavement looks wet at first, but when it dries, it looks the same as usual. When you sprinkle it, try to spread it evenly and don't leave it in clumps. When it's first applied the granules are easy to move, but after they start to melt, they stick like glue. The melting clumps are hard to move or break up.I've found that after being treated, my pavement has less buildup of snow and ice. Any snow is easier to shovel and any ice is easier to remove. I don't know how long the treatment lasts. It seems to protect for awhile--but rain will eventually wash it away and you'll have to reapply. Over here, we tend to go several weeks (sometimes a few months) between snowfalls, so I just reapply before every snow. I try to do a light, even sprinkling. We don't get a lot of snow, but we do have a big driveway and lots of steps. One jar will often be enough for the whole winter--but I prefer to have two--in case the neighbors need some or we have a lot more snow than usual. I keep an eye on the temperature predictions. Mostly I apply before snow, but sometimes I use it to prevent black ice (which can happen when temps are around 32 degrees).Looking at reviews, I think some people are having problems because they wait till AFTER it snows to put something down to melt thru the ice. Driveway Heat is NOT the best product for melting ice that is already there. If you have a buildup of ice on your driveway, you might want to consider getting an ice chopper (a special shovel with a small, heavy blade that is designed to chop thru ice). This product is best for coating the pavement so that the ice doesn't stick to it. I've sometimes sprinkled it late and seen the snow fall on top of the melting granules--that seems to help, but it would have been better if I'd done it earlier and given it enough time to melt and coat the asphalt and pavement BEFORE any snow falls.Driveway Heat has gotten harder to find, but you can sometimes find it for $10-$15 a jar, especially during the off season. You can sometimes find it in a large bag, but it's easier to sprinkle from the jar.

Good Product very poor packaging and delivery
Product works great. The jugs came with NO inside insulation to prevent breakage or opening, not even simply taping the lid in the closed position. About 50 percent of the contents were spilled out in the box and I was able to salvage about 90 percent. Expensive purchase and expensive/extensive clean up.

Good product - poor shipping package
I have used the product for many years and find it very effective . Amazon put 2 in a poly bag and then in a case. In shipment, a top popped open and about 25% of the contents spilled into the case. I was able to spoon back about 95%.
