Historically, lime wash was used to protect and decorate both interiors and exteriors. Today, lime washes are used as decorative finishes, as well as in the restoration of historic buildings. The high alkalinity and excellent permeability rate make Era a Pennello the perfect natural anti-mold agent. When the hydrated lime and other ingredients absorb carbon dioxide from the air, it produces its signature “bloom.” Because the lime paint allows a building’s exterior to breath, the matt, velvet-like surface gets richer as the surface ages. Lime paint is most suitable for application onto an absorbent substrate; limestone, brick, lime and cement mortars, pre-existing lime and gypsum plasters, Gypsum plasterboard, moisture-permeable plasters and walls previously painted with latex paint only.

First time using this kind of paint and I’m impressed!
I used this on some exposed brick and it came out so pretty. I did water it down a little and used a sponge and a brush. I’ve never worked with this kind of paint but I have gotten many compliments and people asking what kind of paint I used.

Fantastic, rustic brick ‘paint’
This is just awesome stuff. I don’t like the look of painted brick, this gives an authentic rustic look to brick. Thin it out with water some, I did about 3/4 paint to 1/4 warm water, don’t worry about putting it on perfectly. Use a brush and sponge to get in crevices. Remember that it will cure and become whiter as an hour or so goes by.
