The Blessing of Life: An Introduction to Catholic Bioethics Hardcover – June 17, 2011

If you are really looking for an introductory text about Catholic Bioethics, look no further. This author give an in depth treatment without being overly technical for the newbie to this topic. Easily readable. Actually, I couldn't put it down, which usually doesn't happen with a book used for a master's level class. I feel much better informed on the topic, and look forward to delving deeper. Thanks to the author.

I... didn't like this book at all. It was hard to follow and painful to read. Some parts were interesting enough to get it 2 stars. It's too bad you couldn't have the class the book was for! In person, the author is much more interesting and the cases we discussed on ethics beats everything in this book hands down.

This book deals with the theoretical foundations of the hard choices that we face as a society with regard to bioethics. While it clearly explains a Catholic view on these issues, it also attempts to explain alternate viewpoints. In the end, this book gives an excellent overview to theory about Catholic bioethics. It offers a rebuttal to other views, but more would need to be written to adequately address all other voices in this discussion.
