Great - Compared to Cigar Oasis (Read)
I can do a direct comparison with the Cigar Oasis and Hydra LG since I just bought both recently. I initially bought the Cigar Oasis plus and then this. The Cigar Oasis: No way to run extra fans on the new models as the ribbon cable and power ports have changed and no longer compatible with Hydra fan kits. No audible alarm. Otherwise works well and constructed well (both at China made so not super quality but both comparable)Hydra-LG: I wanted the Hydra small but it was not available from Amazon directly and I like buying directly from amazon so I bought the large. Glad I did. Its pretty big so I have to take out a bottom shelf. You need minimum 5" height. I bought the Hydra as I wanted to run two extra fans to circulate the air, humidity rises and I had quite a difference from top to bottom. I love the fact that you have a choice to run the fans continuously or only when the Hydra Humi fans come on. I opted for the second option for now. I love the remote with display also the fact that there is a on/off button which Cigar Oasis does not. Its very sensitive and comes on quickly and silently. I did have to calibrate it a little it was showing 3% higher humidity and it was easy to calibrate. I just put it next to my Extect Calibrated Pshycrometer and adjusted after a while.I placed the two extra fans on the second top shelf in the back at an 45deg angle one pushing air down and other up for now. They are working well. I will adjust things as needed. So my vote is for the Hydra and don't waste your money on Cigar Oasis for a large Humidor, lets hope it lasts.Lastly the cigar oasis build quality seems slightly better than Hydra and the sensor is easily recognized on the CO, on the Hydra no idea where the sensor is. I called support and they didn't know either. At least Hydra has a support number to call CO has no support number to call.

One Large better than two smalls
I bought this for a stand-alone end table type humidor cabinet. I had previously tried a number of the hydra units that were smaller in size. they were "little brother's" to this larger unit. I daisy-chained two of the small units together to get humidification on several different shelves within the humidor. frankly they never did a good job and we're constantly needing refilling. The reservoirs were just too small. The constant refill alarm notifications were annoying. And my cigars were never as moist and hydrated as they should be even though the product performance claims indicated even one small unit was sufficient for my size humidor. so I bought this really large version. PROBLEM SOLVED. the reservoir is huge. it does take up more space in my humidor but it works perfectly. filled it up one time more than a month ago and still haven't needed to refill it. it's probably overkill for the job to be done but now my cigars are well hydrated and I no longer am pestered by constant alarms and the need to refill smaller units every few days. Because it has so much water capacity and horsepower the unit does not have to work hard to hydrate my humidor. If you can fit the large unit in your cabinet....get it.

Great lower priced gadget to get the job done....
works great, only reason not a 5 star, is I have to fill it quite often (36-48 hrs), and my box is fairly sealed, not totally air tight, but no gaping spots either. But it keeps the humidity at level all the time, easy to install, easy to refill, and easy to set, and it is auto set at 70* when you plug it in. I would recommend this over the high priced other named brand for sure, worth it in my opinion. Mine is in a display humidor with sliding glass front doors with a thick felt seal between doors, and can easily hold 500 just on display shelves, or can stack boxes and hold a couple thousand with shelves out, I am using mine with the shelves in with about 500 cigars.

Clarinet Saver
Using this in my office in a cabinet that holds my clarinets. The building I work in is horribly dry and I've lost a couple of instruments and had cracks in others because of these conditions. I can't humidify my office enough to make a difference, but storing the clarinets in a humidity controlled cabinet will help to make them less likely to crack.I've been using this for about two weeks and it works well. It seems to hold water for a long time, the fan is not that loud, and the gauge is fairly accurate. I love the thin tape electrical cord - it makes it easy to run into the cabinet. I wish it wouldn't default back to such a high humidity level when I first turn it on, because it's a pain to move it from the ~70 to ~50% range each time. However, it is designed for cigar owners and not clarinet owners.Don't get anything less than this if you are planning to store wooden instruments in a humidity controlled cabinet. A larger humidifier would overwhelm the space, and passive humidifiers such as bowls of water and case humidifiers don't work at all. It may seem pricey, but the cost is actually quite cheap considering what you lose if you crack a wooden instrument.

Quits working
The Hydro does a pretty good job when it works. Mine quit working correctly 7 months after getting it. Do a good search on the web. They just don’t last long. The fans on mine now run continuously never turning off no matter what the humidity is. Thankfully I realized what was going on before I lost cigars to it. The hydra is just cheap junk. Stay away
