The beans themselves are of good quality.As to this specific coffee, Costa Rica Tarrazu, VERY GOOD. To those who rarely taste nuances in your coffee, you will find that the flavor is that of dark chocolate with a sweet acidity. If you taste and enjoy every nuance then here are the cupping notes: "This single origin coffee from San Lorenzo, Taarazú is more acidic than some. It envelopes your palate with a full-bodied dark chocolate taste and finishes with a subtle yet unmistakably tannic sweetness of stone-fruit and wild honey."The darker you roast, the more acidic it becomes. I found it best when roasted to the very very beginning of the second crack. The photo of the "most helpful" review here on Amazon shows a level of roast that is near perfect for this coffee.Indeed, if the cupping notes sound Inticing, buy this coffee! I was excited to get this in the mail and opened it right away. It was packaged very well in a sealed which was inside a burlap bag. The beans look like any bean really. The instructions to roast are easy to follow and I used a cast iron skillet. It was pretty smoky but fascinating. I didn't get a very even roast but they at least made the first crack. I made my first cup this morning and it was delicious.

I was so looking forward to this coffee because of all the reviews. I am from El Salvador so i know Salvadorian coffee. This coffee is not what i was expecting, very bitter and not good coffee at all. Now i have this whole 5lb bag that i have to finish before purchasing my usual choice of coffee.

LOVE!!!! I have been roasting and combining Tarrazu with Yirgacheffe (Full City roast). After gassing off for 24 hours, the aroma is phenomenal! The end cup is a full bodied, medium acidity, bright cup. Love it!! Will certainly purchase again and again! :)

So far tartazu is our 'go to' for home roasting. Always smooth and smells devine when grinding. Normally roast till he start if the 2nd crack (Full City or something) , sometimes before, sometimes after... But always a good cup.

I learned to listen to the snaps. when they slow down, stop. Cool the coffee beans immediately. This will yield a chocolate brown coffee bean roast that you will love.

Very good beans. I go for just into second crack to keep a somewhat light brown as the oils are just coming out.

Best quality for the price. It can be a little bitter, especially at a lighter roast
