Imperfect but fun for my kid
The xylophone, harmonica, and the recorder are all out of tune but my daughter has lots of fun with these despite that and we can still pick out a few songs on the out of tune recorder.

you would want something performing more like a real instrument
These are cheap, but also very low-quality. The xylophone is not in tune and probably dangerously sharp. The recorder is not in tune. For a child young enough that the in-tuneness doesn't matter, you would need safer toys, and for a child old enough to deal with the unsafeness, you would want something performing more like a real instrument. That said, the jingle bells, castanets, and harmonica are fine.

It was fun
Great-granddaughter was was 2 years old and loved playing with everything. She had fun because there were several instruments that other people could play a long with her.

Pretty on the outside, but...
I awaited this package with much anticipation. I was excited to show my little daughter all these different instruments and start teaching her about music.Unfortunately this set is only suited for those who have never had any kind of music education. The scale on both the recorder and the xylophone are not discernible as any western scale as a few pitches are just off.Another issue was that one of the percussion instruments was broken when the package arrived.On the plus side - visually, the instruments are very cute and appealing, so if you don't mind the pitch issue, it's a good purchase.
