Worked great!
I don't do a lot of reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised with how well this worked. I have a boat that had the gas left in the tank too long and it went bad. I bought a cheap siphon at a local auto parts store, and it was terrible. A friend of mine recommended one of these Original Safety Siphons, so I gave it a try. I got the 10' length to give me enough length to get the hose into the boat tank (which was on the trailer), and then I had the empty gas can that I was pumping it into on the ground, so the length was perfect. Primed it a few times and the gas was running smoothly into the can below. when you're ready to stop, just pull the end out from the tank and it stops immediately. Great product!

How to clean the copper siphon apparatus
When used to siphon out a hot tub (which had just had a lot of grandkid use and was somewhat murky) the siphon which started out with a good flow gradually slowed way down. It was because of hair and other debris that had been sucked up and caught in the ball-valve apparatus. A good method for cleaning is to take a small length of stiff copper wire (like ground wire from three wire cable) and bend a tight U at one end (about 1/8 diameter). Then insert this and move around and pull the junk out. Full flow returns!

Powerful and easy to get started
I use this to clean my 90 gallon fish tank. I have 2 large Oscar fish so I only have driftwood and very large rocks in there. They can move anything even heavy items if they don’t like where you put them unless I make them unmovable. It’s so easy with this to get right to the bottom and so powerful sucks all the shat out quickly. I have a window next to it so I just send it out the window. I had one before that was a wider hose and that one was difficult to get started. This is great!

Inconsistent flow
I have used this a couple times both using the exact same setup. First time it transferred all but a quart or so. The second time I hand to keep working the hose in the container. It would not maintain a constant flow. I gave up with about a gallon remaining in the container. Checked for leaks, all appears good. Will continue to work with it. Hopefully it hets

Works like a champ
I use a pool vac that uses a garden hose to create suction. Wile Im pumping approx 8 gallons into the pool per minute, I use this to syphon out approx 5 gallons a minute. It can sometimes take 10 or so pumps to get it going, but it does work perfectly. The tube is very thick. No complaints.

Keep the clear hose
Cut off the copper and it works faster and better but I could of just bought the hose by itself for cheaper

The cure for the new EPA gas can valve.
I hate these new gas cans with the dang valves on them that are supposed to reduce VOC emissions. It takes forever to pour gas out of them. This siphon is the cure for that problem. Just put the gas can above whatever you've got to fuel, put the brass end of the hose in the gas can, and shake it. You will compete your fueling job in less than half the time and not have to futz with that dang valve.
