Great rack, but probably don’t need to buy disc-brake version
It was easy to mount and super-rigid once in place. Also lightweight, and has the dovetail track that allows Topeak’s trunk bag to slide on and off quickly and easily. But I almost certainly should have bought the non-disc-brake model. The disc brake model is super wide to allow for brake discs, but there would have been enough clearance with the standard rim brake model.

Strong, Light, and Thoughtfully Designed
Recently, I bit the bullet and bought a new bike. The bike in question -- a 2013 Specialized Tricross Disc Comp -- was purchased to do the work of four bikes: a gravel racer, a commuter, a touring bike, and a cyclocross bike. Disc brakes were a must -- but they also meant that my trusty old rack wouldn't fit due to the width of the frame (the brakes are mounted inside the corners of the chain stays, so the frame is quite wide at the rear).Enter Topeak's "Super Tourist" disc-capable model. It had everything I wanted: a disc-friendly design, side-bars to allow my panniers to be mounted below the top of the rack, lots of places to attach shock cords and such, and the nifty track feature to make it compatible with Topeak's quick-release trunk bags. It's also light, and I'm not afraid to admit that the weight of the rack was important! I tend to leave my rack on during gravel races -- it's more convenient than taking it off and makes it easy to carry tools and so forth for the ride (most gravel races are self-supported and at least 62 miles/100km in duration). I wanted something that wouldn't add a lot of unnecessary weight to the bike. My commute to school is also seventeen miles each way -- over the course of the day, every ounce makes a difference. The rack proved very easy to mount -- it took about twenty minutes. I worked at a bike shop for a while, and have installed a good many racks; complete, easy-to-follow instructions were provided, but I found that I didn't need them. There is essentially no difference between installing this rack and any other. The greatest challenge is fishing the bolts at the bottom of the struts through the L-shaped disc-friendly mounts, and that proved easier than I expected. For my bike, which came drilled for racks and fenders, all the necessary mounting hardware was included (as were a whole bunch of extra washers -- an excellent idea, since they're easy to lose).Of note, the included mounting hardware is specific to bikes that have appropriate eyelets and so forth already drilled. If your bike does not have eyelets for mounting the rack, you'll need to provide P-clamps or similar additional hardware. Mounting kits for racks can often be found at local bike shops, or you can use small pipe clamps with rubber shims available at hardware or plumbing-supply stores. When I placed my order, I didn't notice that this rack comes with a place to affix a taillight -and- mounting kits for a couple different lights also manufactured by Topeak, so that felt like a bonus.I'm looking forward to summer touring with Topeak's Super Tourist. It's light, sturdy, and well-designed. Its matte black finish looks great on my matte black bike. In short, it's a great rack, and I expect to get years of solid service from it.

Absolute Best Quality Rack Made for the $
Let me qualify myself first here. I retired from owning a bicycle shop two years ago. I've been in the bicycle retail business for 35 years. So, I'll tell you the thing I told my customers. "Anything that Topeak makes is first class!" This Topeak Super Tourist is the most heavy duty rack Topeak makes that comes without the spring. The spring is unnecessary unless you have a specific purpose in mind. I bought this Super Tourist for my Daughter and her Surly Long Haul Trucker with Disc Brakes that she rides in an urban environment to and from her work place in Portland Oregon. She doesn't own a car...so grocery getter, and all around, all purpose rack is what I had in mind for her. Check out how this rack has the horizontal bar just below the top of the rack platform. That gives a great place to mount touring bags or the folding Wald Baskets that she wants to use on them. All Topeak racks work with their own proprietary bags and baskets. Its simply genius how they slide on the top players channel and clip fully secure with a spring loaded button that instantly unlocks with the push of a button. It comes with not only top quality stainless steel bolts and nylock nuts but also two stainless washers for each bolt and mounting point. The racks stays are a little bit longer than most brands come with making so it will fit more bikes properly. (level) It works SO GOOD!!! There are better racks that are stronger but also heavier and A LOT more expensive. There are lighter weight racks that are cheaper and might even look the same at first glance. (There are loads of subtle differences please take my word for it.) But nothing comes close to the utility, price, quality, fit, options, and ease of use and mounting. Note: I mounted this in her Apartment with her little set of tools I gave her for Christmas when she was 12 years old. It took me about ten minutes. Comes with directions and full Topeak brochure. I rate it a 10 and A+++ Even though there are better racks at ridiculously high prices...I would still reccomend this rack as an expedition-round the world quality rack.

Nice and sleek
This rack is very light weight. This is excellent for those of us who don't have carbon fibre bikes as you don't wan't too much extra weight attached to our already heavy bikes.Installation was pretty straight forward and was a no-brainer. Actually I had no idea that disk brake bikes take a different style of racks and gotta learn this the hard way. I had purchased a so-called universal bike rack prior to that and I struggled for over an hour trying to figure out how to mount it and eventually had had to give up. Then upon doing some online research, I found out that I got the wrong rack for my type of bike. This one, the moment I overlaid it on top of where it's supposed to go, I instantly knew it will work. There was no guess work trying to figure out what goes where. The thin metal attachment that goes on the frame behind the seat looked a bit daunting to get it working but as you'd tighten the screws, they bend and sit in nicely.
