Great Price! brand New!
Love this movie for kids. I suggest for older kids age 7-up only because my 6 yr old kid was very scared when the Iron Giant eyes turn red and he begins shooting. In the end this movie teaches that YOU CHOOSE whether to be a "bad" person or a good person, or robot lol. I also purchased the Iron Giant Robot with lights and sounds. A few years ago Iron giant robot was only available for $100+ everywhere. I waited and now you can buy the robot too! Sure to be a collectible and no where to be found except for $100+. I just bought for $20 from Walmart. Definitely worth more! Enjoy!

Has not aged well
I remember watching this when I was a little and enjoying the simple “good guy saves the world” concept of the story and not paying any attention of the complex elements of the movie’s premise namely the Cold War reference that’s repeatedly mentioned in the move. As a grown adult and now capable understanding the complex side of the premise, I decided to revisit this movie and watch it with full understanding additionally to see if this movie stood the test of time. Unfortunately, this movie has proven to be dated. The overall film felt like a prolonged drag of talk and sluggish character development (especially with the case with the beatnik). The villain Kent Mansley you can hardly call a villain given all he was guilty of was being totally paranoid of giant alien robot. Mansley makes Captain Hook look like Judge Claude Frollo and Percival C McLeach. Additionally and above all else the movie just drags with very little engagement. It’s just talk talk play with robot talk talk play with robot talk talk government attacking robot, robot stops the missile, the end. In a nutshell this is what this movie is. Perhaps if you are a collector of old movies or if you have a kid or children yourself and want to show your child or children this film you grew up with, then sure go buy this movie. For the rest, please save your money. There are better old animated movies around.

The Iron Giant is a Must-Watch Movie!
Fantastic movie. This was recommended by a friend and I was not disappointed. Quality animation and an excellent story about a robot that doesn't remember its programming. Befriended by a boy who is into sci-fi, the boy takes on the role of a parent teach the child-like robot about things, including death. Very touching moments with a thought-provoking storyline that older kids and adults will appreciate. If you haven't seen this movie, you're missing out on an excellent movie.

A Gem of a classic animation
is a 1999 American animated science fiction film produced by Warner Bros. Feature Animation and directed by Brad Bird in his directorial debut. It is based on the 1968 novel The Iron Man by Ted Hughes (which was published in the United States as The Iron Giant) and was scripted by Tim McCanlies from a story treatment by Bird. The film stars the voices of Jennifer Aniston, Harry Connick Jr., Vin Diesel, James Gammon, Cloris Leachman, John Mahoney, Eli Marienthal, Christopher McDonald, and M. Emmet Walsh. Set during the Cold War in 1957, the film centres on a young boy named Hogarth Hughes, who discovers and befriends a giant alien robot. With the help of a beatnik artist named Dean McCoppin, Hogarth attempts to prevent the U.S. military and Kent Mansley, a paranoid federal agent, from finding and destroying the Giant. The film's development began in 1994 as a musical with the involvement of the Who's Pete Townshend, though the project took root once Bird signed on as director and hired McCanlies to write the screenplay in 1996. The film was animated using traditional animation, with computer-generated imagery used to animate the Iron Giant and other effects. The understaffed crew of the film completed it with half of the time and budget of other animated features. Michael Kamen composed the film's score, which was performed by the Czech Philharmonic. The Iron Giant premiered at Mann's Chinese Theater in Los Angeles on July 31, 1999, and was released in the United States on August 6. The film significantly underperformed at the box office, grossing $31.3 million worldwide against a production budget of $50 million, which was blamed on Warner Bros.' unusually poor marketing campaign and scepticism towards animated film production following the mixed critical reception and box office failure of Quest for Camelot in the preceding year. Despite this, the film was praised for its story, animation, characters, portrayal of the title character and the voice performances of Aniston, Connick, Diesel, Mahoney, Marienthal, and McDonald. The film was nominated for several awards, winning nine Annie Awards out of 15 nominations. Through home video releases and television syndication, the film gathered a cult following and is widely regarded as a modern animated classic, and one of the greatest animated films ever made. In 2015, an extended, remastered version of the film was re-released theatrically, and on home video the following year. Was unappreciated at the box office but later found its audience on home release and the Signature EditionA remastered and extended cut of the film, named the Signature Edition, was shown in one-off screenings across the United States and Canada on September 30, 2015, and October 4, 2015. The edition is approximately two minutes longer than the original cut and features a brief scene with Annie and Dean and the sequence of the Giant's dream. Both scenes were storyboarded by Bird during the production of the original film, but could not be finished due to time and budget constraints. Before they were fully completed for this new version, they were presented as deleted storyboard sequences on the 2004 DVD bonus features. They were animated in 2015 by Duncan Studio, which employed several animators that worked on the original film. The film's Signature Edition was released on DVD and for digital download on February 16, 2016, with an official Blu-ray release of this cut following on September 6.

One of the best animated films ever
Asked to select a few blu rays for my young nephew whose mother and father had just built a home cinema room, Iron Giant was the animation choice I went for. Brad Bird's 1999 version of Ted Hughes' The Iron Man and featuring voice acting from the likes of Eli Marienthal, Vin Diesel, Harry Connick, Jr.,and the late, great and instantly recognisable John Mahoney. This version is, I hope, the extended, remastered version of the film (I haven't had a chance to check out the home cinema yet...) but even if it's not, I think it stands out as one of the greatest (and underlooked compared to the likes of Bird's later movies such as The Incredibles and other Pixar fare) animations: fun, beautifully drawn, and with a strong message for children (and adults) everywhere.

Enlightening, Emotional & Classic Film
This film is for children technically but has humour that adults can also enjoy. I watched this film from childhood myself so I know from experience that this is a wonderful film about an Iron Giant that lands to Earth from somewhere in space. He is like a child with no knowledge or language and befriends a child who teaches him these things as well as humanity. Beware, there are some emotional moments in this film and (unless I am overly soppy) had me bringing tears to my eyes at least 3 times. Well worth watching if you've never seen it before.

A masterpiece.
Features a beautiful new retrospective documentary. The film? Just a vintage under appreciated classic piece of cinema. Not just isolated in animation but also in film history. The greatest transfer of an animated film I've seen in a ling time. Also the additional newly constructed "sequence" / scene finally realised and put back in adds little, but is great to see and a full-proof reason to get this film out on blu-ray as it was meant to be seen with some truly special, special features in tow.
